Quiet state highway in California just outside a town called (of all things) Shafter, only a few cars are humming along this beaten, almost empty road. The sun is shining, but light drops of rain are beginning to gather on the windshield. I’m driving down there in our new Ford Mustang, car got in san francisco, and doing around 85-90mph. I hadn’t seen the speed-limit signs. 8220;Good afternoon officer” I greet him as he approaches the window.

August 11, 2009 · 4:58 pm. Walt Whitman — Song of Myself. I celebrate myself,. And what I assume you shall assume,. For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you. I loafe and invite my soul,. I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass. The smoke of my own breath,. Echoes, ripples in buzz’d whispers; love-root, silk-thread, crotch and vine,. My respiration and inspiration, the beating of my heart, the passing. Of blood and air through my lungs,. From bed and meeting the sun.

Monthly Archives: July 2008. July 31, 2008 · 3:50 pm. A Change In The Plan. It was supposed to be so easy. Just get the insurance, buy the car, drive around the country for 8000 miles, sell the car, fly back home enriched and awakened for the experience, having discovered a bit about myself in the process. Try buying insurance in the States when you don’t have a residency. Even if you lie and say “the car will mostly be in a friend’s garage the whole time”…. And so, we changed the plan. The time we’...

I’m backtracking a little here, but it wouldn’t be right to blog a roadtrip without some mention of the road and what we find thereon. Other road users are generally considerate and non-life-threatening, and driving is a pleasurable experience. the only issue is really around the big cities where two or more Interstates merge — we see accidents at those points every day and you really have to stay alert. It’s not even ne...

Monthly Archives: September 2008. September 28, 2008 · 4:45 am. Victoria And The Elusive Moose. From Seattle we took the “high-speed katamaran service”, the Clipper, into Canada to stay with friends in Victoria, British Colombia. Actually, they’re closer to being family than friends, and we had the chance to take a break from the constant whirl of hotels-driving-traveling-flying and to enjoy some relax time. It was perfect. And Victoria is first and foremost, human. How old-school is that! The pilot of o...

8220;Whither goest thou, America, in thy shiny car in the night? 8221; “Whither goest thou? 8221; echoed Dean with his mouth open. We sat and we didn’t know what to say; there was nothing to talk about anymore. The only thing to do was go. Jack Kerouac, On The Road). On the way, through this Blog I’ll be writing about what we see, the trip, the experience, the people, and I hope to lend some color to it all with photographs. Why do all this?
