Marcos Zotes embarked on a trip from New York to Reykjavik with his technical director to present the opening of "Rafmögnuð Náttúra". Chris Jordan solved the technical issues onsite, installed and calibrated the equipment (three large 12K lumens projectors), and video-mapped the video content with Marcos using MadMapper software. The spatial setup was managed by Luxor, who provided a well-equipped work environment in front of the church, safe from the toughest Icelandic weather.

Marcos Zotes and Chris Jordan performed a series of interactive video projections during the four days of the festival. The work included Chris Jordan's time-lapses of solar activity, recorded by NASA's SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory) spacecraft from the days immediately preceding the festival, and Marcos Zotes' dynamic visualisations of Aurora Borealis. Höfuðborgarstofa, Orkusalan and the Iceland Design Centre organized a competition for the opening act at the Reykjavik Winter Lights Festival 2012. Among all the entries, the jury selected the work of Marcos Zotes and Gerður Sveinsdóttir, "Rafmögnuð Náttúra", as the winner of the competition. The jury was composed by graphic designer Arnar Geir Ómarsson, architect Guja Dögg Hauksdóttir and Höfuðborgarstofa director Sif Gunnarsdóttir. Competition details: www.honnunarmidstod.is.

Chris Jordan explores the medium of light, movement, and time through the use of technology. His installations have appeared at the Moma, The New Museum, The Whitney, The Museum of Natural History, The Chelsea Museum, Times Square, numerous galleries and clubs; and the incidental spaces in between. In addition Chris teaches interactive design at Baruch College and NYU; and organizes T-Minus, G33kXmas, rooftop movies, and visualist salons in New York City.
