If you want the link, just email me: doctormon at gmail dot com. Thanks to all who made this a fun and productive space for me! On Any Given Day.

Pretty Hard, Dammit: A Very Big Not-So-Rookie Mistake

Pretty Hard, Dammit. A (Somewhat) Daily Account of One ABD's Epic Struggle to Complete Her Dissertation. A Very Big Not-So-Rookie Mistake. Posted by Stewgad at 11:19 AM. I guess in life sometimes we get exactly what we deserve, right? And, of course, payback, she is a bitch. But particularly in matters of childcare I often think that the ironic gods of parenting reach out their dry twiggy fingers and deliberately pinch so as to protect us from our own hubris and hence our children from our grandiosity.

Life and Times of a History PhD. Sometimes I blog about academia. Sometimes I blog about life outside of academia. Open letter to people I know. Open letter to people I know. March 22, 2012. Maybe I’m tired, jealous, envious; maybe I’m just a horrible person. Or maybe I’m human. But I can’t be all that happy for you right now. Really. Good for you. But, as a human, I find it hard, as happy as I am, not to think “Why you and not me? View all posts by lifexhistory →. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

Dr Mon's So Called (.) Life. Whining Moment: Job Woes. After going to a wonderful conference earlier this month, I was hoping to do a better job with research and writing during the second half of the semester. My efforts have pretty much been in vain, as I just can't seem to get caught up with my students this semester or avoid trips to Hometown for one wedding thing or another. But being closer to Dr. J is definitely worth battling the immense feelings of inferiority I have right now in asking some...

Mostly Not Writing | Dr. Mon's So Called (...) Life
http://drmon1922.blogspot.com/2010/09/mostly-not-writing.html
Dr Mon's So Called (.) Life. As I have been lurking around various blogs. I've continued to feel sad that I can't quite get into a rhythm with blogging again and writing in general. My to-do list of summer writing went largely unchecked, and I have already started the semester with one self-imposed writing deadline passing me by. I did manage to rustle up an abstract for a conference, but even that feels unsatisfactory. Leslie- I definitely am happy for you that you are getting good advice. I hope th...

Dr Mon's So Called (.) Life. I made a quick run to Hometown to handle some wedding business. Long story short, although our issues with the venue continue, we are making progress on finalizing the menu. It was tough going to the tasting without Dr. J being there. But since I wasn't completely satisfied with the chicken dish (too creamy), it looks like we'll have to schedule a second tasting. Here's my favorites from the tasting:. A very very tasty vegetable and pepperjack cheese stuffed mushroom. She has...

Dr Mon's So Called (.) Life. 26% Extraversion, 40% Intuition, 40% Thinking, 80% Judging. Hah Nice one. How does it feel to know that you're barely unique? Of all the personality types you could have had, you ended up with the most common in all of America. In a group of 100 Americans, 12.8 of them will be just like you. I bet you feel sorry for that one person missing 20% of his body. I bet you want to help him out, don't you? Cause that's what you like to do, isn't it? Sound pretty good so far? If you w...
