Thursday, October 17, 2013. Of Essences and Energies. For some reason I am fascinated (dare I say “obsessed”? By the history of the conflict between “paganism” and Christanity. Some years ago, when I discovered Gore Vidal’s novel about the 4th century pagan emperor Julian. 8221; (ibid.). Difference in approach - Historical Harps
http://historical-harp.livejournal.com/5524.html
Difference in approach - Historical Harps. Historical Harp Society of Ireland. I play Italian triple, medieval and Gothic harps. When I first tried authentic style, that seemed to me rather weird, but after several hours already I realised that it works with the music phrasing of that time, fits the construction and makes my life a lot easier. Then - what's the point of having early instrument and playing early music in modern way? Looks to me the same like frying the pancakes on lipstick, to be honest.

Brays - Historical Harps

Brays - Historical Harps. Historical Harp Society of Ireland. Recently, I started to think about the usage of bray pins again. My Gothic harp has brays but I never used them for more then short experiments. Not that I don't like the sound of it, it is just that I don't see them fitting for almost all of the music I play on this instrument at the moment, which consists of transcriptions of vocal compositions. What do you think about the topic? Do you use brays? 2009-04-17 03:41 am (UTC). Coming up to date.

Galilei stringing - Historical Harps. Historical Harp Society of Ireland. Does anyone have a correct set of string weights for a Hobrough Galilei, please? Ive just acquired one which is half strung in nylon.the harp is otherwise fine. 2011-11-20 09:32 pm (UTC). As far as I know, the written sets for Hobrough harps hardly existed. 2011-11-20 09:45 pm (UTC). Hm, that was my backup solution, plus taking a vernier to the existing set, although I don't know if that won't perpetuate the situation! 2011-11-21 1...
