Thompson's Take: February 2006
http://jdt-rant.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 27, 2006. Just got back from a long day on the plane. a day made somewhat longer whilst in the care of a four month old. All in all I had a wonderful time with my family in Hawaii. We were sad to elave but we do look forward to making it back someday. Just a few quick highlights as I should be off to bed and not blogging (priorities, right? The Olympics were by and large a success for Canada. We should be proud of our athletes. What's up with the men's hockey team though? Now, to bed.

Thompson's Take: Playtime with Jack
http://jdt-rant.blogspot.com/2006/09/playtime-with-jack.html
Tuesday, September 12, 2006. Admittedly the topic of Afghanistan is becoming a bit of the proverbial dead horse, but it continues to weigh heavily on my mind. This is probably because the position of Taliban Jack and his band of merry persons bothers me so. In short, I think he's a fool but at least I can rest assured knowing that the NDP will never. Come to power in this country. You have to respect the will of parliament! Now Jack has done the ol' switcheroo. Now he. Granted, I believe that more could ...

Thompson's Take: September 2006
http://jdt-rant.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 19, 2006. Let's move on, shall we? I was as shocked as most people were to hear about the tragedy in Montreal about a week ago. It was a tragedy and there's no denying that. Naturally, we want to know why these kinds of things happen so that we can try to prevent them from happening in the future. I wonder, though, if some of this discussion isn't getting a tad ridiculous. Posted by Jason at 12:34 PM. Tuesday, September 12, 2006. Admittedly the topic of Afghanistan is becoming a bit of...

Thompson's Take: December 2005
http://jdt-rant.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 23, 2005. In any case, my blogging might be a little sporadic over the next week or so as I indulge in the many festive delights around me here in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Here's hoping that you and your loved ones have a very Merry Christmas. Posted by Jason at 4:38 PM. Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Only time will tell if the Conservatives can sell their idea to more Canadians, and more importantly, if the powers that be actually decide to listen. Posted by Jason at 1:33 AM. I have to tel...

Thompson's Take: Bill 208
http://jdt-rant.blogspot.com/2006/09/bill-208_05.html
Tuesday, September 05, 2006. I've read a few editorials lately about the issue of same-sex marriage in Alberta. For those unfamiliar, Ted Morton, rookie MLA and PC leadership contender, had tabled a private members bill which was essentially designed to protect those civil servants and other public figures who objected to the principles of same-sex marriage. Due primarily to stalling techniques by the opposition parties, the bill was quietly killed. In response to a column by Graham Thomson. These decisi...

Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Year in review 2009: alberta mla edition. As is tradition here at daveberta.ca, I have created an annual list of Alberta MLAs who have caught my eye over the past year ( see the 2008 MLA review. Due to a large grouping of MLAs who through sheer numbers appear almost indistinguishable as they sit in the backbenches of the. MLA Progressive Conservative caucus, this list focuses on the handful of MLAs who caught my attention for various reasons:
. And was quietly punished. By act...

daveberta2: February 2010
http://daveberta2.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Saturday, February 27, 2010. Does downtown edmonton need a katz arena district? Launched a new website. Last week reframing their campaign for a new downtown arena as the centrepiece of a new "Arena District" north of Edmonton's downtown core. The new website features a video interview with Katz Group President Daryl Katz. To start this conversation. I expect that this website is the beginning of a larger political campaign that will unfold before the 2010 Edmonton City Council elections. While I liked t...

Thompson's Take: January 2006
http://jdt-rant.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 31, 2006. Life indeed rolls along. Things seem to have settled into their more organized chaos with me. School is picking up and I have plenty of readings to keep me busy. My eye is almost at 100% and getting better every day. My son is healthy, my wife is happy and in less than three weeks we will be basking in the tropical sun on the island of Oahu. Yes, life is wonderful. I'm not complaining and I don't pretend to know what's causing it. Global warming? Something in the water? I'm an ...
