Monday, June 25, 2012. Gardening with Kids : How To Build a Bean Trellis Teepee. When I was a kid I was a bit mesmerized by the teepee kit often shown on the back cover of the Burpee. Scarce, so I bought everything I needed at lowes depot in advance. I started with 5 plastic posts, 6' long and 1/2" thick, a spool of string, (I started with hemp twine, but later stitched it to nylon for greater durability), landscape pins (normally used for holding down landscape fabric), and a few varieties of pole bean.

Monday, October 10, 2011. Apple Sweetened Pink Applesauce (Strainer Method). Pink applesauce is always a hit in our family. The biggest upside of the strainer method is that you don't have to peel the apples, the great color is just an added bonus. We're using the same apples as last time. In the same proportion. Of course, if you want pink applesauce, you've got to have at least one red apple. The more red apples, the pinker the sauce, use at least 1/2 and 1/2. Cut out the core. Treats for the chickens.
