Raising Zane: Muffins, front bums and fine China
http://raisingzane.blogspot.com/2017/01/muffins-front-bums-and-pink-canoes.html
A light-hearted view of fatherhood. Muffins, front bums and fine China. Having sons, I was fully aware that - at some point in the distant future - there would come a time when my boys would be predominantly preoccupied with vaginas, and their teenage heads would contain nothing but food and furry triangles (if they were so inclined, of course). Beau only gave me three. And with so many cutsie labels for their noodle, wang-wang, peenie, pecker, donger or doodle, which one would you use? Beau created some...
Raising Zane: Outfoxed
http://raisingzane.blogspot.com/2013/10/outfoxed.html
A light-hearted view of fatherhood. You need to develop a streak of cunning-ness when you become a parent. Small people – children, not dwarves – are difficult to reason with. They’re still learning how things work and why things happen, so you need to stretch the bounds of your ingenuity just to keep one step ahead of the little ones and use the right easy-to-understand facts to persuade them to do as they’re told. How easy was that. What marvellous parents we were. Not long after this triumph I helped ...
Raising Zane: Mini Manners
http://raisingzane.blogspot.com/2015/04/mini-manners.html
A light-hearted view of fatherhood. A part of responsible parenting is ensuring that your offspring learn the nuances of a considerate citizen so that – when they are older - they perform all of those courteous little acts that our society expects. In short: manners. We do it is so that our kids will be accepted as polite individuals and not be outcast as someone who burps the alphabet in public or gargles custard at dinner parties. To teach them some manners:. 8220;Say thank you! And so it goes. On one ...
Raising Zane: Fallen angel
http://raisingzane.blogspot.com/2014/03/fallen-angel.html
A light-hearted view of fatherhood. There was a whisper from the darkness: “Come in here.”. What was unusual was that he had a pair of his shorts on his head. Many things that Zane did defied reason, but this had us miffed. Zane had seen fit to fetch a pair of little blue shorts wear them on the wrong end of his little torso, like a King’s crown or the head-dress of a red Indian, and then just gone to sleep. Raising Zane: Word perfect
http://raisingzane.blogspot.com/2014/11/word-perfect.html
A light-hearted view of fatherhood. There was a time – not so long ago - when Zane’s vocabulary was very much a work in progress. We were constantly telling him the names of things in our surroundings and he sucked up the new words as eagerly as he did banana smoothies. We had a little person who listened to every word we said and carefully noted how the sounds rolled out of our mouth. But overnight, Zane knew absolutely everything. He started correcting. 8220;Look Beau, there’s a bird. Now I couldn̵...

Accidental Poetry: Turning Away
http://accidental-poetry.blogspot.com/2015/09/turning-away.html
Purposeless prose that I've stumbled across in my mind. The time had come for our number one son. For a milestone of many: Kindy, Day One. As we walked through the gate he was holding my hand. With his new lunch box in his little kindy bag. Different kids, different teachers, all fresh and new. There was a cool new playground with so much to do. As we went through his routine, he seemed happy and bright. But when I began my departure he just hugged me real tight. With some help I managed to make a retreat.

Accidental Poetry: Four Favourites
http://accidental-poetry.blogspot.com/2011/10/four-favourites.html
Purposeless prose that I've stumbled across in my mind. Of my four favourite words, the last is “perambulate”,. Its meaning: “to walk or stroll” is something to which I relate;. It is rhythmic and fluid, it literally ambles from your lips. And prompts you to go a-sauntering, and loosen up your hips. 8220;Lebensmittelgeshäft” is German, it comes in at third,. It has so many varied sounds stuffed into one word! Alas, it designates something I have no time for:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Accidental Poetry: The Fart
http://accidental-poetry.blogspot.com/2011/04/fart.html
Purposeless prose that I've stumbled across in my mind. Why does it linger. When you squeeze one out? Like a ghostly finger. It just hangs about. The fart is lightning quick. How it travels, no-one knows. From the back of a bus. In a blink: up the driver's nose. Why does it always go. Where you don't want it to? It should react to gravity. Just the same as poo. You can drop a fart then move. But will it stay where it passed? The bloody thing will follow -. Why does it cling to your arse? Makes your butt-...

Accidental Poetry: Hot stuff
http://accidental-poetry.blogspot.com/2012/03/look-at-me-on-top-of-world-im-on-red.html
Purposeless prose that I've stumbled across in my mind. On top of the world. I'm on the red carpet. Each arm has a girl. What a great hair day. And check out my smile! You haven't seen me. Look this good in a while! My shoulders are square. My chest puffed out -. This is what spunk. Hey honey - you dig this stance? I've forgotten my pants! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Accidental Poetry: Writer's Block
http://accidental-poetry.blogspot.com/2015/04/writers-block.html
Purposeless prose that I've stumbled across in my mind. I was sitting under the pecan trees. With a laptop perched upon my knees. Thinking of something clever to write. But nothing came that was terribly bright. A little black bird landed nearby. And appeared to look me straight in the eye. It seemed like he wanted to take a look. And have a read of my half-finished book. After he read my book for a bit. He shuffled his feet and did a shit. His little turd fell through the air. View my complete profile.

When She's Expecting: Week 36
http://when-she-is-expecting.blogspot.com/2011/02/week-36.html
A light-hearted view of pending fatherhood. My wife the penguin. I’m getting quite good at massaging. I think. I try to help out with Jas’ back discomfort as much as I can, and a 10 minute rub often helps.but – alas – I can’t do much more than 10 minutes. It’s tough on the hands, and my finger muscles don’t seem to be developing any strength. What do professional masseuses do? Are there any finger fitness classes out there? 7 February 2011 at 01:42. When She's Expecting: September 2010
http://when-she-is-expecting.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
A light-hearted view of pending fatherhood. Jas mowed the lawn again. And it was a perfect job! Not a Cessna in sight. A week’s holiday in Greece! Was I going out in sympathy? I don’t know. I prefer to think that the reason for putting my T-shirt on inside-out at the beach was due to its design – it looks pretty much the same either way. I just wanted my pocket on the inside, that’s all. Jas: “Our bedroom smells of paper.”. I was happy Jas wasn’t a librarian. Perhaps. Jas had certainly muttered the p...

Raising Zoë
April 12, 2010. On the photo you see Zoë and me having fun at the breakfast table. It's been a while since the last comic. To make a long story short: I've decided to end the comic. I've enjoyed drawing the comic and I think (I hope) Zoë will enjoy reading it when she's older as it tells the story of her growing up and of me adjusting to being a dad ;). I hope you enjoyed reading Raising Zoë as well and, if you're a parent, I'm sure you recognize a lot of the situations. She can read all numbers.
