Today started with a bus (97B Line, at the pictured Port Moody bus stop), a SkyTrain jaunt to Braid and a Jeep journey to SeaTac. Awaiting our flight in the security area, enjoying high priced burgers, fries and beer. Onward and upward, and northward. On the summer solstice, the first parliament in Europe met once per year, at Þingvellir. Beginning around 930AD. The location was an obvious choice: a Rift Valley in southwestern Iceland, which formed a natural backdrop to the gathered chieftains. Today it is a national park and still a powerful place, in terms of geography, geology and history. Later in the day we stopped at Gullfoss.
