Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. My other passion next to sailing is climbing. I mainly find pleasure in long alpine routes. The most important achievements so far include:. First ascent of Kirken, Liverpool Land, Greenland. First ascent in East Greenland 2013. Cima Grande, Comici. Naranjo de Bulnes, Asturias, Spain (solo). Several solo ascents in the Alpstein, Switzerland.

Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. In 2013 Ralph participated in the OSTAR. While an OSTAR alone is already a great feat it was only the first leg of Ralph's adventure. From Newport he headed on to Nanortalik, Greenland - again single-handedly. He passed the iceberg-infected waters off New Foundland and finally saw his first icebergs in the mist off Greenland.

Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. Ralph Villiger is from Switzerland and started sailing at the age of 18. Since then he has sailed almost exclusively short-handed all over the Mediterranean Sea and in the Atlantic. Since 2003 he has been sailing on NTOMBIFUTI in the Mediterranean and in the Atlantic. In June 2011 he participated for the first time in a single-handed race, The Azores and Back 2011 (AZAB 2011). Ashore Ralph is a keen mountaineer. His main focus is on long and severe climbs.

Ralph Villiger on NTOMBIFUTI. On the way to Greenland (from Norway) lies Jan Mayen, another tempting goal. Of course, all depends on weather and ice conditions. After Greenland the boat will stay in Iceland or possibly in Scotland. That, at least, is the plan. The Teufelsschloss lies at the banks of Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord in the National Park North-East Greenland. This region is already quite far north and only August or September seem suitable months to go there by sailboat ( climatology data.
