Saturday, May 17, 2008. I made it through exams! On top of making it through the exams I feel really good about how I did on all of them, even FINANCE! Tuesday, February 26, 2008. So the part about DIS being a legitimate learning experience. I'm trying not to get stressed out! Learning is great. Who doesn't love learning? I'm just saying that the group meeting logistics/study tour assignments/finding time to enjoy CPH . has become a bit of a challenge. I am very much looking forward to finishing all of this work up by the end of next week and starting our long study tours! Berlin, Prague and China! I may even be able to spend a day with her in Sweden.

Sunday, April 27, 2008. On Saturday I spent the afternoon volunteering at a playground in the Amager district of Copenhagen. I found out about the project through the volunteer coordinator who set me up with my weekly volunteer job at Plan Denmark. It turned out to be a really beautiful day and I was so glad to spend it outside working on "beautifying" the playground. A little schoolroom for the children. all by volunteering artists. The beginning, power tools and all . It was really great later in the a...

Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Yes, not one field trip . but three . back to back! Oh, and the name badges that they passed out to us! My second field study was sort of a "pretend" field study . and by that I mean that our professor kept calling it a field study when really it was an excuse to find time to give more of our class presentations for my China class. With only one more class left (! To top off the day I had a trip back to the Carlsberg brewery. It was my second time but this time we had the priv...

Thursday, September 27, 2007. You need to have read the ridiculously long blog about my trip for this to be funny . basically this is the clay pool I jumped into to save my glove. I did save it, and I was glad I had them at the geysers (-9 celcius). Thursday, September 27, 2007. Tuesday, September 25, 2007. More from the trip . Ok, just pictures this time! Entering Bolivia, Laguna Colorado and llamas, the Armada in Arica - Chilean Carnival, Peru, Vicuñas, more flamingoes and Laguna Verde. The rest of the...

Monday, July 9, 2007. Wipe away those tears. Monday July 9, 2007. Extremadura… how to describe such a place? It was very rural… thus the people were exceedingly friendly… The towns were perfectly preserved medieval villages and castles surrounded by sleepy eighteenth century constructions… There was no nightlife or partying in the streets… All was quiet tranquility, a soothing massage to the wound wrought by Alemeda’s demise. Enjoy the pictures in lieu of descriptions. Collected souvenirs: Alemeda sadness.

Saturday, September 1, 2007. Home again, home again? September 1, 2007. Against a steep incline on a hill overlooking the Jordan University lays a boxy concrete villa surrounded by olive trees, grape terraces, and fig. My initial impression of dread and nervousness cloaked all beauty in a hazy rumble of my stomach. My given description of the family was only somewhat accurate:. Name Birth Sex Speaks English Occupation. Issa 1937 Male Yes Retired. Nawal 1947 Female Little Housewife. Tonight I’m to m...

Saturday, October 13, 2007. The smog blows and my eyes water up into dust, I wonder why I’m here. The city teems with a competing beauty that tires me. I want so much for something unknowable to be. Along university road, I saw a blind man - dark waves against fluttering lashes, round shoulders and a golden jaw. He saw right through me and for a moment I had a vision. Thursday, October 11, 2007. I might be going to Iceland for Springbreak. Tuesday, October 9, 2007. There ya go. Talk to me if ya got it.

Sunday, October 21, 2007. Is there real estate development in Heaven? So I had a crazy dream last night. In fact. its really weird, so maybe you should stop now. Here's the scene:. An old warehouse district of a city fainting resembling Deep Ellum, mostly resembling Adams Morgan but meticulously clean. Businessmen and women in suits come, following a real estate developer who is converting entire portions of the area into old lofts. I'm floating above this scene watching everything unfold. The transvesti...

Assorted Voyages and Vagabond Dreams: Feline cities with refugee reflexes

http://vagabondmoxie.blogspot.com/2007/09/feline-cities-with-refugee-reflexes.html

Sunday, September 30, 2007. Feline cities with refugee reflexes. Will add pictures of recent trip to Petra and Wadi Rum soon* * This blog explains why I don't blog as much in Jordan:. In this city of limbo, only the cats truly survive. For the month that I have been here, I have yet to spy even one dog or rat. Like the refugee-citizens, the felines are clever and abandoned. Dirty but not savage, and completely alone, they are fighting to survive amiss the unforgiving cement of the city.

Rambling Reflections | An open diary of my journey through school, day-to-day life and my thoughts on the world around me

An open diary of my journey through school, day-to-day life and my thoughts on the world around me. Fireworks on the Waterfront. July 17, 2015. July 16, 2015. One good thing about living in small town on the water is that when the community gets together, it turns into a warm, loving atmosphere. This year for the July 4th weekend, a lot of my family came down to celebrate. And what better way to celebrate Independence day than to watch the fireworks at our town’s waterfront? Flannel – Done! May 2, 2015. Ugh UGH. The McCall’s 6613 flannel shirt saga is over. Finished! Way back in November. I am just now getting pictures in spring. Ignore the kayak in the bottom of the frame. Don’t judge me. I learned a lot making this shirt, and will apply it to the next one (I haven’t cut it out yet, but I have this lovely black and white cotton check shirting waiting for meeeeee.).
