Art and architectural commentary. Hong Kong: fashion walk, urban grunge. Posted by Chris Wray on Mar 8, 2011 in architecture and urban spaces. While at the same time you see the crumbling, urban decay of the apartments above. Despite this dichotomy, Hong Kong is a remarkably harmonious place and I found the people to be friendly and outgoing. Stay tuned for more of my travel photo diary. Next stop: the famous Victoria Peak and harbor skyline. 6 Comments on Hong Kong: fashion walk, urban grunge. By train,...

Art and architectural commentary. St Mang Basilica Füssen, Bavaria. Posted by Chris Wray on Dec 29, 2010 in architecture and urban spaces. On the 2EV setting with a low ISO setting to ensure minimal noise. I have since explored hand-held interior shots using very fast ISO (3200) and was pleasantly surprised with the clarity. Enjoy the photo results below. For larger photos, more photography notes, and other church photos from around the world, please visit my Flickr. With the rapid decline of railroad tr...

Art and architectural commentary. Posted by Chris Wray on Nov 21, 2010 in architecture and urban spaces. The Bavarian village of Füssen. Is full of charm and rich history. Following a week-long business trip in Munich, my colleagues and I took a day-excursion to picturesque Füssen and its nearby crown jewels: Schloss Hohenschwangau. Two 19th century castles of unimaginable architectural and artistic expression. Currently, 17 Euros buys a guided tour of both castles. I recommend visiting the older Sch...

Art and architectural commentary. The performing arts thrive in unexpected places. Posted by Chris Wray on Sep 16, 2010 in reviews. Here’s a pop quiz: What U.S. city is home to the nation’s largest repertory theatre company? This company has a combined acting troop, production crew and administrative staff of 500 professionals not to mention a legion of volunteers that presents up to 800 performances of eleven plays with an annual audience of about 400,000. It’s got to be New York City, right? Bed and Br...

Textures: Heaven and Earth. On Aug 26, 2013 in Photography. Resembling a mini Badlands National Park, the recent torrential rains in Southern Colorado produced deep erosional cuts in a land development near my home. Intrigued by the textures in the late afternoon sunlight, I photographed this scene with my trusty Voigtländer Ultron 40mm f/2.0 aspherical lens cranked down to f/22 for optimal depth of field […]. I set my camera exposure for the available lighting, but used a Canon ring flash for fill light. The ring flash allowed me to get in close with my 100mm macro and it provided the right intensity of flash without producing harsh shadows. My complete photography gear included:. Canon 5D Mark II. Lens review: Voigtländer 40mm f2.0. On Jul 25, 2012 in Gear Reviews. If you’re searching for an ultra-high performance pancake prime with superior optics and build quality look no further. Lens review: Voigtländer 40mm f2.0. On Jul 25, 2012 in Gear Reviews. The perfect lighter weight, compact walk-around lens great for landscapes, street photography, portraits and macro work. I find this lens a perfect lighter weight, compact walk-around lens great for landscapes, street photography, portraits and macro work. It’s not ideal for action shots due to manual focus. This lens replaces my inexpensive Canon 50mm f1.8. I think the 40mm is the perfect. July 25, 2012. July 25, 2012. February 18, 2013.
