EXTRA EXTRA CREDIT: Adventures in College Dumpster Diving
http://extraextracredit.blogspot.com/2008/05/adventures-in-college-dumpster-diving.html
Sunday, May 11, 2008. Adventures in College Dumpster Diving. Adventures in College Dumpster Diving. Here is a secret. Any good diver knows that college campuses are the best place to scavenge, especially during the beginning and end of semesters. This is because college students throw away EVERYTHING. Here is what my friend Kyle and I found at the end of this semester:. We took some things to a used bookstore for credit; anything they couldn't buy we took to a thrift store and donated. Kyle plans on havi...

Sunday, May 25, 2008. If you ever need a helping hint making modern art, just add paint and a dying poinsettia to a public toilet. This is by me and Shoe. Click here for a before shot. Hope you learned something. Monday, May 12, 2008. EXEXCRED'S Guide to an MRE. When my friend Kyle and I went dumpster diving. My first reaction, was how did all this fit in there? I ate the crackers first. They were unsalted, bland but not bad. The blackberry jam was. The coffee tasted authentic, but I ended up th. Accordi...

EXTRA EXTRA CREDIT: EXEXCRED'S Guide to an MRE
http://extraextracredit.blogspot.com/2008/05/fun-with-mre.html
Monday, May 12, 2008. EXEXCRED'S Guide to an MRE. When my friend Kyle and I went dumpster diving. We found a MRE nestled between some empty pizza boxes. MRE stands for Meal Ready-to-Eat, which is basically a portable lunch box that cooks itself. The military has some awesome stuff sometimes. Who knows why someone would ditch it. It was perfectly fine. My first reaction, was how did all this fit in there? I ate the crackers first. They were unsalted, bland but not bad. The blackberry jam was. Finally, the...

EXTRA EXTRA CREDIT: April 2008
http://extraextracredit.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 24, 2008. After my friend Ultra got in a nasty car wreck that totaled his Gran Prix, he had this shitty Kia Rental. A friend of a friend told him that since the car has only front-wheel drive, he could slip restaurant trays (you know, for carrying your food) underneath the back tires. Then if he put on the parking brake and accelerated, the car would spin around like crazy. Hope you learned something. Saturday, April 19, 2008. I call it "SCHIZOPHOTOGRAPHY", which is:. A portmanteau of sch...

Another Movie Review This Week: Frost/Nixon - Boring/Lies. The fallen president has recently resigned from office. He’s old, fat and discouraged about retiring until David Frost (Michael Sheen) baits Nixon with a surplus of cash in return for an unscripted interview. Nixon takes the money like a greedy child. Historically, the interviews were insignificant in the sense that they didn’t change anything and were mostly forgotten. And watching the original tapes is little more than two boring peop...The mov...

Mandatory Chaos: October 2010
http://mandatorychaos.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
In Rotation: Wavves and Arcade Fire. Melodic nostalgia and poor decision making. Continuing their obsession with neighborhoods and citizenship, Arcade Fire’s latest, The Suburbs, winds around familiar streets of escapism and nostalgia. Less gloom and more zest, it’s a departure from their more elegant Funeral and intensified Neon Bible, but retains that classic, quiet desperation that originally hooked fans. Links to this post. Europe Diary – Antwerp, Kinderdijk, LCD Soundsystem, etc. Hard to admit, but I am enjoying boredom a lot more lately, because it’s so rare now that I get to sit around and soak in my own lethargy. There’s so many errands to run, places to explore and school, of course. So forgive me if this is rather condensed compared to my last entry. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tijuana Diary: Fabricated Poverty. So this was it. We were homeless now, crouched low in the overgrowth behind a university gym. To us, home. Smoking cigarettes, our hands placed over our sleeping bags and blowing twisted smoke rings at the branch canopy above us. This is the taste of freedom, Levi was saying. The best cigarettes are the ones under a night sky. Isnt this kind of patronizing, condescending, you know? What do you mean? Links to this post. In Rotation: AM Taxi / Paper Tongues. As you know, ...

What did you love about MGMT? The ironic, clever lyrics? MGMT doesn’t even plan to release singles off Congratulations, hoping people will download the entire album instead of stealing a few radio-friendly hits. And not surprisingly for a band that proactively analyzes their own popularity, Congratulations is a direct response to MGMT’s overnight success. The band is reluctantly famous and they loathe every ounce of American celebrity culture. Artist: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Beat The Devil’s T...
