The Cumbres and Toltec is America’s longest(64 miles) and highest(10,015′) narrow gauge( 3′ vs std 4′ 8″) railroad. The railroad was built in 1880. The railroad runs between CHAMA,NM and ANTONITO, CO. It was a great ride and we enjoyed the many scenic areas that the train passed thru. Diana and Ray's Retirement Activities. DAY 18 – TAOS. October 11, 2013. We decided to visit the TAOS PUEBLO this morning. This is the oldest continuously inhabited pueblo in the United States. The pueblo has been dated back to over 1000 yrs. We had a guide(one of the local indians) take us around and give a tour and info on the pueblo. Not to be, rain / fog etc made that a no go! BUT we did get a great lunch at the “Peaks of Otter” Lodge. We had a table overlooking a very nice lake. Diana and Ray's Retirement Activities. East Coast Trip – 2015. September 12, 2015. Well we started out our East Coast Trip. Our first stop was an overnighter in Wilson NC. Ride was uneventful except for some very heavy rain showers that we had to drive through. Although we only were using it as a stopover we discovered that it had a unique attraction.
