A place for all my random thoughts
Jeremy • Streams of Conciousness
http://randomthoughts.jersdesk.com/author/Jeremy
A place for all my random thoughts. The news has been particularly disturbing recently. It’s seems as though the nation is in a mad rush to destroy itself as quickly as possible. It’s amazing how much we have been split into our different ideological camps and how much we’ve convinced ourselves that everyone outside of that camp is a demon. The end result is that we all leave more angry with each other, and more certain that everyone else is simply evil. The TLDR; is this: A man whose brother was shot by...

A place for all my random thoughts. Meet the Mormons Review. I saw Meet the Mormons. Over the weekend and I really enjoyed it. The idea of the movie is to showcase a few individuals who are faithful members, depicting what their daily life is like and how their choices are affected by living the gospel. So in that sense it is rather like an extended set of “I’m a Mormon” vignettes. Having said that, there are some pretty remarkable stories told here. October 13, 2014. The 179th General Conference. For me...

Legos, legos, LEGOS! • Streams of Conciousness
http://randomthoughts.jersdesk.com/2015/hobbies/legos-legos-legos
A place for all my random thoughts. Legos, legos, LEGOS! I played legos with my siblings and with friends. We had epic battles, heroic quests, and death-defying stunts. It was awesome. Pretty much from the moment that the remains of that set went into the general bin of legos, I idolized the time when the castle was complete! But even as a kid, I did have to say, the Black Monarchs castle in particular was pretty. darn. awesome. Recently, some of my brothers were talking about the good old days, and how ...
The Special • Streams of Conciousness
http://randomthoughts.jersdesk.com/2015/family/the-special
A place for all my random thoughts. We recently watched the Lego Movie with our kids. (Spoiler alert for those who live under a rock and haven’t seen this movie yet…). It’s a really fun show about construction worker who is thought to the prophesied “Special”, someone who would end up being “The most important, most talented, most interesting, and most extraordinary person in the universe.”. What am I doing with that responsibility? Do I do things that abuse that? Something to think about…. May 27, 2015.

The More the Merrier: October 2014
http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
The More the Merrier. Friday, October 31, 2014. The Realities and the Lessons. Taking "Wear it out" to a whole new level. The realities start as you either have to seek out and receive welfare assistance or not pay your mortgage. At first this isn't so bad, but as time moves on and you still need help, and even more help, it gets harder for people to take you seriously. Are you really doing all you can to find a job? Maybe you are just a loser who can't do anything right? You learn faith is the best choi...
The More the Merrier: July 2014
http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
The More the Merrier. Monday, July 28, 2014. Susan is finally above her birth weight! She was weighed this afternoon and she is 8lbs 8ozs. She was 8lbs 4 ozs at birth. We are very grateful to finally be over that hump! John heard back this morning from the one place that had him write a couple of small programs after the phone interview. They said he passed the second part of the interview process and will have him come in sometime next week when their interviewer is back from vacation. Kate is a big hel...
The More the Merrier: August 2014
http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
The More the Merrier. Sunday, August 24, 2014. This Week at Our House #34. Nothing, nothing, nothing from jobs. Ruth went to a regional church dance last night and had a lot of fun. A couple of her friends from Salt Lake came up for the dance. Ruth seemed to enjoy her final week of vacation, and is excited and nervous to begin her junior year of high school tomorrow. Josh pooped his pants and I made him clean up most of the mess himself. He was very grossed out. I sure wish he would get this figu...Arwen...
The More the Merrier: April 2015
http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
The More the Merrier. Sunday, April 26, 2015. This Week at Our House # 17. John's job extended a bit for him to be the person to complete the web development portion of it. That's good. He had a job interview, but was not called back. I thought that was too bad for them, because John was a uniquely perfect fit for the job. He has two more phone interviews this week. Ruth's been busy preparing for AP exams. She dragged Kate to a school dance on Friday and they both had fun. Arwen has been talking more....
The More the Merrier: This Week at Our House # 31
http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2015/08/this-week-at-our-house-31.html
The More the Merrier. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. This Week at Our House # 31. We went to Pineview Reservoir as a family on Saturday. It was the first day that both John and Ruth had off all summer, so as soon as people woke up, we packed them all into van and spent the day at the lake. John apparently is not a great swimmer and doesn't like the feel of sand on his feet. But he was glad we went anyway. Adam was a bit of trouble at the Bean Museum when we went, but he was good at the park. I think he en...

The More the Merrier. Tuesday, August 4, 2015. This Week at Our House # 30. John had a meeting and got a new contract that extends him to the end of the month. Ruth had an ordinary week of work. We went to the lake on her day off and I know she had a real lovely time. Though she did get pretty badly burned. Kate did not go to the lake for girl reasons. But she cleaned the house and made peanut butters for the family. Rachel loved the lake and swimming out really far. She did a good job too. Suzy is getti...

http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2015/05/this-week-at-our-house-20.html
The More the Merrier. Sunday, May 17, 2015. This Week at Our House # 20. I had a busy, tiring week. I am definitely counting down to summer vacation. Two and a half more weeks to go. Ruth had pms. Every month for a week she thinks everything in her life is horrible and that she is a miserable failure, everyone hates her, and that she is fat, ugly, and stupid. I am always relieved when that week is over. Johnny's such a good boy. I ask him to do a lot and he just does it without complaint. Joseph was funn...

The More the Merrier. Monday, June 30, 2014. This Week at Our House # 26. I sure wish I could say that John at least had a job interview, but nothing, and while he will continue to apply for at least five jobs a week, I am sure we will not hear anything until after the holiday. John has had lots of time to spend with baby Susan. He has taken care of her while I took my mom and the kids out shopping and to the dentist. Rachel has 4 more days left to the school year. I am so glad that we are finally co...
The More the Merrier: September 2014
http://thoserobertsons.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
The More the Merrier. Sunday, September 28, 2014. This Week at Our House # 39. Not a bad week. The phone interview John thought went badly last Friday sort of did. The interviewer recommended him for another position in the company, so he has a technical interview for that company this Wednesday. He has another place that has requested a phone interview. I looked up housing and cost of living in both places and I am really hoping John gets the second job and we get to move there. Adam came home from scho...

The Flamboyant Introvert
I question things which people take for granted. I would have been that kid who said the emperor was naked. In real life that kid would probably have been lynched, but I'll take my chances. I believe truth inherently valuable, no matter how well intentioned the ideology it dispels may be. I also write about random interesting things from my personal life. Make Love, Not Babies; reframing "trying" to conceive. I should start with a disclaimer:. My wife was (is! And I also asked for one critical thing:.

Random Thoughts and Pointless Rantings
Random Thoughts and Pointless Rantings. Random Thoughts and Pointless Rantings. 21 September – Kamakura and the Great Buddha. Our last three days were at a much slower pace than the preceding week and a half. That was due in part to our schedule not including as many places to see and things to do and in part to both of us quickly wearing down. We based ourselves in Tokyo and generally stayed within a 30-40 minute train ride from Tokyo station, which was near our hotel. Less than an hour south of Tokyo.
Streams of Conciousness • A place for all my random thoughts
A place for all my random thoughts. There Is No End. The hymn “If You Could Hie To Kolob” is famous for having a great tune, lyrics that can confuse those visiting us on Sundays, and lots and lots and lots of lines that begin with “There is no end to …” (fill in the blank). There is no end. There is no end to glory;. There is no end to love;. There is no end to being;. There is no death above. July 20, 2015. And that is a profound truth to remember. To my young children, I am the Special (as is their...

I’ll be honest Chacha, she is living on borrowed time. You can go in for another endoxan therapy, but in my professional opinion, it will but prolong her misery. To see his father crumble, both mentally and financially, to never be the same man again, isn’t something I would wish on anyone. But that...I remem...

So, the nice middle aged lady at the check-out says “Hello sir, did you find everything you needed today”? I said, “Yes I did, thank you”. She was smiling and having a good time. Beep…Beep…Beep…Beep.
