Thoughts and Writings to Start Conversations. Posted by Mr. O'Hagan. On August 2, 2012. Quick one today. I just had an epiphany. Many school systems are moving away from purchasing new textbooks. The main reason is that they are just so darn expensive! At roughly $100 (and more) per book, cash strapped schools just can’t make it happen. But why should they? I say that students should WRITE THEIR OWN TEXTBOOKS. Yes, you read that right. Why shouldn’t students write their own textbooks? And that is awesome.
