Words by Ross: November 2011
http://wordsmiff.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 16, 2011. OK, here's what's ACTUALLY happening (or not) with the surgery. It has been a while since I had a rant and I think this is a good one. Come my next drug infusion on 15 October, five days before the surgery, I informed the doctor examining me prior to authorising the treatment, that I was scheduled to go under the knife on the 20th. His precise response was "that's not a problem.". Don't any of them listen to what their patients say in answer to their questions? The next day,...

Words by Ross: December 2011

Tuesday, December 27, 2011. BOOK REVIEW: The Spider Goddess by Tara Moss. First posted at awritergoesonajourney. The Spider Goddess by Tara Moss. A Pandora English novel. There’s a new designer in town- and she has Pandora in her sights. Who knew the fashion industry could be so venomous. Now there’s a new threat to New York, and Pandora seems to be a beacon for the strange and unexplained. With The Spider Goddess, I was much happier. I felt some of the problems I had with its predecessor had been ad...

Words by Ross: CD REVIEW: Jailbait by Anni Piper
http://wordsmiff.blogspot.com/2012/10/cd-review-jailbait-by-anni-piper.html
Sunday, October 7, 2012. CD REVIEW: Jailbait by Anni Piper. I do not usually review music but music is a big part of my life. Listening to this particular CD, I felt inspired to review it. I picked up my copy of Jailbait on a whim several months ago after spying it in the racks. It dates back to 2004 so is hardly a new release but it was housed in the blues section, was an Australian compilation by a white female singer. I was intrigued and I decided to give it a go,. It Hides in Darkness. Simple templat...

Words by Ross: May 2012
http://wordsmiff.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 11, 2012. Oh Mr Bunny, how I have changed. Not another review or my usual blather, not even a rant. This time I simply have a small reflection on how we change, or at least how I have changed. I'm originally a country boy. Not growing up on the farm as such but by my teens I knew how to shoot and as I grew older, I liked hunting mainly for rabbits and foxes. But that was more years ago now than I really care to recall. In all honesty, if I had still had a firearm of some description around th...

Words by Ross: January 2012
http://wordsmiff.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 12, 2012. Little things becoming special. I use this blog to usually blog about more serious things. But sometimes you just have one of those days you just want to share. I arrived back home yesterday and the plane was some 15 minutes early due to the howling tail wind. That was nice. Today I received an unexpected and quite nice message from a celebrity I respect, checking up to see how my recovering from surgery is going. That was really nice to receive. The Broken Nib: November 2010
http://brokennib.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 3, 2010. The science of the pool table. Needing something appropriate for the theme and in an attempt to be 'entertaining', I penned the following in a few minutes the day before. It seemed to go over fairly well. The Science of the Pool Table. The bar, it had fallen silent. Wagers, there were a stack. Only two balls upon the table. The white cue ball and the black. I picked up my pool cue. As the butt drooped from my lip. And while I stared down at the felt. I asked 'anyone got a tip?

The Broken Nib: June 2011
http://brokennib.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 12, 2011. I have been very naughty in not updating in this blog more often. The news is that I have several poetry projects on the go. I am generally not one for competitions but there is a competition for bush poetry that I have some suitable pieces for submission so am reviewing these prior to sending off. Now, because my feet are cold and the second X-Files film is on, I am going to kick the heater into a higher gear and concentrate on agents Moulder and Scully for a while.
