Another Falconry Blog: May 2010
http://wakayamatakagari.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Mostly a falconry journal, occasionally thoughts on other things. Tuesday, May 25, 2010. I work in downtown Denver, literally the middle of the city, and this fellow greeted me at the front doors of my office this morning. The crazy thing was that I don't think ANY of the other people around the building even noticed him! Or at least they had absolutely no reaction to a fox at the front doors. I thought it was pretty cool. Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Southern Rockies Nature Blog.

Another Falconry Blog: August 2010
http://wakayamatakagari.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Mostly a falconry journal, occasionally thoughts on other things. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. The widget at the top of my blog is officially in single digits. Trapping season is literally right around the corner! As for the check list:. New Nooses on Old Traps? Materials have been priced but it'll have to wait until payday. Shouldn't take me long to put together. Not yet, but since that's where all my old traps are, it may be another thing to tackle tonight or at the latest, this weekend. So Much To Do A...

Harris' Hawk blog: Bad news Good news
http://hawkingharrisblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/bad-news-good-news.html
This blog is intended to cover different aspects of falconry, birds, and the animals that affect my life. Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Bad news Good news. Gonzo's talon did not heal correctly. Even though we wrapped it, then splinted it. It still was pulling to the left an alarming amount, and the toe was starting to swell. Obviously, my doctoring didn't work. I held Gonzo on the kitchen table while Arnaud took a good look - the prognosis wasn't great. As a side note - no eggs from the hawks yet. Sorry to hea...

Harris' Hawk blog: Does use of tools define humans?
http://hawkingharrisblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/does-use-of-tools-define-humans.html
This blog is intended to cover different aspects of falconry, birds, and the animals that affect my life. Friday, August 14, 2009. Does use of tools define humans? For a long time, one of the defining tenants of humanity was that humans were capable of planning, for-thought, and the use of tools. Since that time there have been discoveries that other animals are capable of using tools without being trained to do so. They then go on to state:. In all, the crows needed three sticks of different lengths to ...

Harris' Hawk blog: Crazy busy
http://hawkingharrisblog.blogspot.com/2011/06/crazy-busy.html
This blog is intended to cover different aspects of falconry, birds, and the animals that affect my life. Sunday, June 12, 2011. Things are nuts here. I'm working both jobs right now, and on the only days I have had off since April I had to make a run to New York to see my brother get married. 12 hours each way, with a two night stay. Crazy. Coming from North Carolina, it seems strange that going to New York feels like I'm driving to the country. It is a nice drive, but Long. Late in the morning, I had t...

Harris' Hawk blog: A walk with the dogs
http://hawkingharrisblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/walk-with-dogs.html
This blog is intended to cover different aspects of falconry, birds, and the animals that affect my life. Saturday, May 21, 2011. A walk with the dogs. I don't get out with my dogs enough. They love to get out and run, off lead, and I think it is good for them to do that. I was able to find a few hours last week to get them up in the dunes. It was the perfect spring day for it, slight breeze and slowly rising temps. We meandered through the sloping sand and found lots of holes to explore. I've had Gonzo ...

Harris' Hawk blog: Meandering
http://hawkingharrisblog.blogspot.com/2011/05/meandering.html
This blog is intended to cover different aspects of falconry, birds, and the animals that affect my life. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. For those of you that don't know - I teach school. But with summer just around the corner, my "other" job has started. The one that allows me to afford my teaching habit. My other job allows me to spend more quiet time, driving on some back roads, places I don't usually go. On these trips I am fortunate to see things I wouldn't normally see. Box turtles are cool. Tess came to...
