Life in a northern town. Monday, April 22, 2013. In Alaska, there is a word for this time of year. This awkward time of year when the cumulation of seven months' worth of snow and ice begin to melt, revealing layers of road salt and gravel and people's long forgotten debris. When Alaska seems to be shyly hiding her true beauty behind a thick layer of grey and grit. Alaskans call it "breakup.". My first Alaskan breakup happens to be a most bitter one. My marriage of 15 years. But experiencing my first Ala...

http://zparks.blogspot.com/2015/03/tinney-flat.html
August 2, 2013. An overnight camping trip seemed like the perfect way for our family to wrap up our week of memorable activities. As I mentioned in an earlier post, we opted to camp somewhere relatively close to home. I had it on good recommendation that Tinney Flat. Each campsite was surrounded with a natural. Canopy offering a comfortable sense of privacy. I'd definitely say the hiking was scenic. We didn't take gear for fishing, but we did soak our. In the river number of times. That was nice. Our cam...

Parkside View: October 2012
http://zparks.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
October 31, 2012. After a quick jump in the shower, it was time to begin preparations for the Park family party that was to be held at Greg and Tilly's that evening. I had to give myself plenty of time to convert Jason into a bald black man with a goatee. His entire transformation process took about 45 minutes. The two of us were laughing through the whole procedure. Because I think our assembled group looked pretty. Nifty, I had to post this picture to my blog again. Of course, we played. No sooner do w...

http://thedavisfamilydiaries.blogspot.com/2013/12/merry-christmas-to-our-friends-and.html
The Davis Family Diaries. Friday, December 13, 2013. Merry Christmas to our friends and family! Here at the Davis family we are turning over a new leaf! We are trying our best to get a Christmas card out to many of our dear friends and family this year. I know I have stated on many occasions in the past that this was our goal. Years have passed, and so far we have been unsuccessful in our efforts (or lack thereof. . .). So, we consider this year a triumph! Here is a little taste of our year in review.

Sunday, April 14, 2013. 50 reasons to Love Las Vegas. Kelly"s Parents Celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. We had a special dinner for them with all their brothers and sisters and their spouses. It was rare fun to have everyone together. We continued the celebration with a long weekend in Las Vegas, where we took in a show, ate good food and took a forced march down the strip as I fulfilled my secret desire to be a tour guide. The Black Family: Happy 8th Jackson!
http://runwiththeblacks.blogspot.com/2010/04/happy-8th-jackson.html
Sunday, April 11, 2010. Jackson turned 8 a couple of weeks ago and things have been so busy I haven't had a chance to write about it yet. He has been especially excited for this birthday because he was looking forward to being baptized and becoming a cub scout. Here are eight greats about Jackson. 1 He's so responsible (guess it just comes with being the oldest). 2 He loves sports and anything that gets him moving. 3 He's a polite, well-mannered boy (his teacher even says so). But the rest of the kids walked right up, told him what they were wishing for, and posed for the picture.
