James Kay's field of expertise. Is materials science, engineering design and industrial fabrication. He is a founder of Tantalus Design, a Vancouver-based product design and fabrication firm. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia, where his research focuses on reducing the cost and improving the quality of producing parts made from carbon fiber composite materials. He is also an instructor at Capilano University where he teaches a course in engineering design.
