Up on the Hill. January 31, 2009. Finishing the month with a . . . splash! This is the view from Jillian's potty chair. That's right, potty fans! We had our first victory tonight! After a highly toxic blowout this morning, I went on a diaper strike. It's been panties only. Since she woke up from her nap. After a couple of slightly near misses, Jillian made her first pee pee in the potty! Bubbie and Grandpa and Nana and Papa were excited to hear the news when she called them, too! Up on the Hill. January 3, 2010. New Year's Eve Donairs. My roommate in college was from Canada and raved about her favorite food: Donairs. Yeah, I know. Well, my mom and I searched online and found the recipe to make them. That was over ten years ago. We enjoyed this tasty dinner on New Year's Eve and thanks to our recent reconnection on Facebook, I was able to tell Tracy thanks for turning us on to what is still one of our favorite foods . . . even if it is Canadian! Up on the Hill. September 25, 2009. This week Jillian's class went to visit Knaus Apple Ranch. They started out playing Ring Around the Apple Tree with Miss Stevi's parachute and then moved over to the table for a demonstration. The kids were able to go into the orchard with a bag and pick some apples, too. They were instructed to twist instead of pull. Jillian took this very seriously! The bag of apples was weighed and then purchased. We finished the field trip with a picnic on the grass with friends.

Up on the Hill. September 28, 2008. Apparently, today is National Alpaca Farm Day. And Jillian and I were invited to join our friends Regina and Alexandria (or Aluzdrayuh if you listen to Jillian's pronunciation). We visited Four Seasons Alpaca Ranch. Where we were greeted by the lovely family who runs the ranch. Their son, Parker, was our tour guide around the ranch. Not only was he very knowledgable, but he was as cute as a bug's ear, too.
