Wednesday, 28 May 2014. Another Chum, Omer Stringers signature Chestnut. Not quite the whole story - abbreviated short from the company website. The logo, as kool today as it was when it came out. The story below, along with images appears on the Carrying Place Canoe and Boat Works site, and is a more complete biography of the man. Chestnut Chum that reportedly belonged to Omer. Paddling display in the red canoe he was more well known for. Omers canoe that hangs in the visitors centre in Algonquin Park.

Saturday, 29 August 2015. Peterborough Model 1815 Minetta. The van grabs another one, but no camera was handy before it was unloaded. Factory caning, bow seat. Only damage, outer gunwales which are D shaped in profile. Much of the dark staining seems to be due to the boat having been wet. Now dried, once sanded the wood will be bleached and oiled to remove the staining and return it to its natural colour. Next is new canvas, cane, interior sand and varnish and paint colour to be chosen. Links to this post.

Friday, 27 March 2015. Cant hammer it over the pine, and beating it over in a vice with a hammer wont be clean. Enter another Lee Valley solution. Cheaper than a metal brake, and takes up no space. This is a one off application, and will allow for any angle bend up to 90degrees. Magnets hold the pieces to the jaws and turn the vice into a press brake. Its useful as well for general forming, crimping, and clamping just like the box says. Any angle up to 90. NOW do it 50 more times, one on each end. Stern ...

Sunday, 21 September 2014. New (old) table saw - Finally! Into the trailer, its also waiting for a tongue extension and an paint job. Never enough time! As found, a great unit. The motor dust cover is available as an injection molded impact plastic piece, already on order. An added bonus was the 4" dust chute on the back of the cabinet, when the motor cover is in place the dust collector will extract the majority of the dust and chips. We like this MUCH better!
