It's (mostly) about the food...: July 2011
http://itsmostlyaboutthefood.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 25, 2011. Our tiny garden. Pea pods. We have the tiniest of gardens. Seriously, a few pea plants, one tomato plant and some herbs. It's small because my moms house has the biggest garden ever. It's expanded as my brothers and I have moved out. I think it's my step dads way of continuing to provide for us. And I am grateful. I did pea plants this year basically as a cover for our dogs "undesireable" part of the yard to be covered. And it's worked well. Plus. We have peas! 1 tbsp olive oil.

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Tuesday's tip o' the day.burns. I'm a klutz sometimes. And I like to cook. And I work as a barista (I make coffee). So I burn myself, often. And when I do, I have a surefire technique to not blister or sting. My old boss, Candy, had a remedy for everything and this was one of her. Just a little tip, from a girl who has been there and done that too many times! 0 thoughts about this. Labels: Tip of the week. Monday, January 30, 2012. Fancy" Salmon noodle casserole. Monday, June 27, 2011. Summertime. oh it's summertime (or is that suppertime? There are some days that the suppertime from You're a Good Man Charlie Brown runs through my head. but more like, "Summertime, oh it's summertime.". There are days that are just gorgeous. Last week was not one of those days. It was cold, we were in sweatshirts and jeans at the park. It was rainy. It was anything but gorgeous. But I still wanted to grill some dinner. And my brother in law wanted steak. 1/2 c teryaki sauce. I'm t...

Monday, July 23, 2012. I grew up not being a big fan of vegetables. While I love my mom dearly, I think the veggies we ate growing up were very much the same. Not a whole lot of variety, boiled and buttered and salted. She worked hard to help provide for us, so I'm not blaming. Just saying. I never really enjoyed them. Now my step dad has an amazing garden. And we eat alot of veggies when they come out. We freeze them, we eat them. we just use them any way we can. 1 onion, chopped. 1 green pepper, diced.

It's (mostly) about the food...: Summer dinners... Chicken avocado bruschetta
http://itsmostlyaboutthefood.blogspot.com/2015/07/summer-dinners-chicken-avocado.html
Thursday, July 30, 2015. Summer dinners. Chicken avocado bruschetta. Beach days are my favorite. And when I'm gone all day I need to have something on the menu that I will want to eat for dinner. Something I'm not too lazy to make. This qualifies. Simple chicken avocado bruschetta. Simply salt and pepper and grill chicken breasts. Mash avocado with salt and pepper. Swirl this goodness on top. Toast some bread and yum. So good! Fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced. Add the bruschetta in a light layer.

It's (mostly) about the food...: Celebrate everything
http://itsmostlyaboutthefood.blogspot.com/2014/03/celebrate-everything.html
Monday, March 17, 2014. Any occasion is an occasion to celebrate. I have a bunch of Pinterest boards dedicated to just that. It's simple. I am trying to give my boys good memories of their childhood. Someday I want them to think back and say, "remember how mom always made weird things like pi day hats? Or snowman bowling pins? Or heart shaped meatloaf? Or shamrock smoothies on St Patricks day? Because I hope they realize that these things, silly as they may be, mean I love them. But it's a start.

It's (mostly) about the food...: May 2012

Wednesday, May 9, 2012. So this one time. I thought I'd branch out and try some Indian food. Why not? So I found a recipe for crockpot butter chicken. It was good. Pretty stinkin' good. But really, it's easy enough to just do on the stove. So the next time, I did. And then I made it again. It's become a favorite in our house. Of course there have been some tweaks along the way. And this is the way we like it best now. 3 chicken breasts, cut in bite sized pieces. 1/2 c plain yogurt. 1 clove garlic chopped.

Monday, September 22, 2014. Fall, apple picking, applesauce and sunshine. I love fall. School starts. Routine begins again. Life falls into a slower pace. We go apple picking. The weather cools down. The sun shines and I want one in the kitchen. And with all of those apples I want to make sauce. And I leaned a few years ago it's pretty easy. Especially with this tool. If you are even thinking about making anything with apples. Go get one immediately! Pretty simple, amazingly good. 0 thoughts about this.

Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Chocolate and peanut butter banana bread. Our mornings used to be crazy. Up at 6, get showered, get dressed, eat breakfast, make lunches, get our plan for the day, get out of the house by 7:15 to get to school on time. 1/2 stick of butter. 1 tbsp peanut butter. 3/4 tsp baking soda. 1 c chocolate chips. Preheat the oven to 350. Mash up the bananas until there are very few chunks. Mix it with the butter, peanut butter, sugar and molasses and mix until creamy and fluffy. I made...
