Ray Harper - Retro PC's. My first PC was an Acorn Electron with a cassette recorder. I got interested in programming and wrote some games for my boys. The electron grew with a Plus 1 expansion unit, a Plus 3 disk drive and eventually a EP2 second processor. I (mistakenly in retrospect) traded up to a BBC Master which grew with a 80186 second processor making it a Master 512 running DOS software and BBC software under BBC Basic (86) for DOS.

Ray Harper - Publishing. I have published one hardback, one paperback and five ebooks. The pages on this site will describe the processes I have been through to publish books which may help new authors decide on their approach. My first book, The Colony (1): Endings, was published by what the publishing house called 'joint publishing' or 'partnership publishing' where the author pays the cost of publishing the first edition, first printing. I think this is more commonly called 'vanity' publishing.

Original Gouache (opaque watercolor) Paintings. Not using photography, as a field naturalist Ray works primarily from the many sketches and color notes made on location at dens and nests. Ray began releasing Fine Art Limited Edition Prints in 1963*. In doing so he became the founding artist of the Limited Edition Print industry as it is known today. Without depending on photography, Ray's artwork has always been what he considers to be the true spirit of the fine art creative process.
