Http:/ www.bioethics.gov/reports/human dignity/index.html. 這是一本討論有關生命倫理和人類尊嚴的論文集，是美國在這方面多有思考的學者給美國總統的，有關這方面政策制訂的參考建言，Rolston的文章是第六章，討論人的獨特性和尊嚴，至於我翻譯的這篇是其中的第四章，由人類靈魂的奧秘的面向來討論人類尊嚴。 尊嚴到底是什麼？對我而言一直是個曖昧不明又棄之可惜的概念，在好好的閱讀過這兩篇文章之後，我對尊嚴開始有許多具體的想法，我想這對於我在思考人在自然中的問題時，有了很好的想像背景和徑路. 第一個字「功利效益」廣泛地被理解以解脫人所遭受的痛苦和改善人類境況以期促進人類福祉。當人們主張為了治療基因疾病或幫助不孕的夫婦有小孩而需要發展生物科技時，這經常是他們首先援引/引證的原則。 我的論證是，人類尊嚴為人提供一個特殊的道德地位，並且此道德地位最終需要（一個）人類靈魂中的信念[來撐持]。科學物質主義否認靈魂因而漸漸地蝕壞人類尊嚴，但是大部分的物質主義者發現他們無法沒有靈魂而行並以各...當我們談到「人類尊嚴」或者「人的尊嚴...這種模式在Thomas Hobbes...

你引的陳正祥這段話，「一切學的學術界都是人為的，所以我們不必斤斤計較學科的定義，也不必限制學者的研究範圍，或排斥他人的見解。時代的需要與個人的志趣，應為知識或科學自然發展最佳的領導。如果我們再繼續爭辯地理學的定義或研究範圍，真是無謂的浪費」。 這句話我部分同意，部分不同意。「學術都是人為」這是廢話，並且也不是因為學術都是人為，我們就不需要斤斤計較學科的定義。就是因為學術都是人為，並且他是持以一種特殊的「人為的視角」在研究 ，企圖去認識世界的普遍真理，我們才要嚴謹而認真的看待這種「人為」。 我不懂這位陳先生既然「不需要斤斤計較學科的定義」那他何必堅持要做學術研究？每一門學術研究都有接受其學科訓練的嚴謹性，沒有接受學門訓練 ，充其量只能作作門外的泛泛之論，並且一個學術研究者即便他企圖提出一個新學門，他對他要推翻的傳統學門沒有瞭解 ，這種無著力點的推翻或革命是不可能的。段義孚如何能是「人文主義地理學」的開山祖師？他也是從一個扎實的實證主義的空間...我認為學門間的狀況就可以類比於個人的認識世界。跨領域應增進的是是學門與學門間的交流溝通 ，每個研究者應當自我意識到研究是一種嚴謹的認識...我同意陳先生說&#12...
