Monday, 25 October 2010. Stonechat and Redpoll Holme. Great spotted Woodpecker 11th October. 11 October Common Seal Snettisham. A good display from the waders displaced by the high tide was rounded off with a posing common seal, a Short eared Owl that flew in from the sea, 5 Little stints on the lagoons and a single wheatear in the grass. 7 -10th october - a manic week-end of migration at Holme. Thursday, 9 June 2011. Great Spotted Woodpecker Bedford. A very vocal and curious Great Spotted woodpecker at the nest hole, being fed by both parents and very near to fledging. Thursday, 27 May 2010. Norfolk 22 - 26 May. Snettisham. A very vocal and obliging Sedge warbler at the entrance to the RSPB car park. A rather hazy Turtle Dove Snettisham. 24 May.Green Hairstreak Butterfly Snettisham Coastal Park. 1 of 3 flitting about in the morning sunshine. 2 patch Ticks for the price of 1 when stopping to listen to a Nightingale singing deep in cover. Having seen Little Owls in a number of places recently, an opportunity to go with with David when he helped ring a brood of 4 near King's Lynn was an opportunity for a close encounter! The half term week spent in Norfolk produced a mixed bag of weather and no birding surprises, though Spoonbill was a site tick for the NOA's Redwell Marsh. With recent October winds lashing the coast and opening the flood-gates to winters migrants, the star bird out of the nets was a stunning male RED SPOTTED BLUETHROAT. First spotted the previous day,it remained overnight and proceeded to delight visitors throughout the day before finding its way into the nets.
