Jackie, the Ripper?!
http://www.tyrony.com/2012/10/jackie-ripper.html
Jackie, the Ripper? Ever since I was a (not that troubled) teenager, I was sure I was never gonna get bored of one subject: Jack the Ripper (although my mom thought it was kinda strange for me to enjoy reading about such eerie murders - she gifted me two of those books, nevertheless). I started gathering the books I could find on that particular theme. Before the web shopping, it was a bit harder, so, my small library on Jack, was (and still is) only 4 books long. The covers always look so intriguing!

lozguistics: August 2011
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 5, 2011. Strange ideas I sometimes have. I was chatting to a class about dialects of English the other day, and how some are so different as to almost boarder on being non-mutually comprehensible. I think it would be excellent to have a Creole where the superstrate and substrate languages are both English. I got terribly excited about the idea but the students didn't appear to take to it as much as I did. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

lozguistics: September 2011
http://lozguistics.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 11, 2011. This year I'm making the most of being home for a whole 12 months by doing lots of teaching as well as lots of writing. Last week I was fortunate enough to give a lecture in the subject that I'm tutoring for! The subject is all about linguistic diversity, and it's designed for students who are at the end of their undergraduate course. Hopefully the students also found it relatively painless.
