Gaining recognition for school libraries | readingeducator
https://readingeducator.wordpress.com/2015/04/19/gaining-recognition-for-school-libraries
ITR Impact through Reading. Gaining recognition for school libraries. As many readers will know I was recently nominated for the CILIP Information Literacy Award as part of this year’s LILAC conference. It was a great honour to be asked to submit something let alone make it into the shortlist. We have the potential to giv...

Marginal Library Gains | readingeducator
https://readingeducator.wordpress.com/marginal-library-gains
ITR Impact through Reading. This section is going to be all about my research in marginal gains made in school libraries based on Dave Brailsford’s Marginal Gains theory. The idea behind the theory is not to try and improve as much as you can but to break something down into its composition and then work on improving all the little bits by just 1%. Now this idea has practical applications in just about anything and everything so why should it not have an application in we can improve school libraries?

ITR Impact through Reading. These are 6 questions that I feel are fundamental to the world of school librarianship. Inspired by the millennium problems and recent touchpaper education questions and spurred on by recent debates on networks such as SLN I’ve been thinking about the big questions relating to school librarianship. What are the questions that we are all striving to answer in our schools and ultimately how can we answer them? How can our role enhance that of the schools? Ok, so this is a big on...

Wednesday, June 29, 2011. I did my inquiry project on literacy centers. I chose this topic because it's a topic I don't know a lot about, but I know I will have them in my classroom (as most teachers do). The concept is pretty self-explanatory. "A literacy center is one of several learning stations arranged in a classroom designed for students to visit and learn independently. Children often select a. Center where they can work by themselves or in a small group of children. Monitor their own progress and...
