Reading Through: Day 27 of Bible in 90 Days

http://readingthrough-lizzie.blogspot.com/2011/02/day-27-of-bible-in-90-days.html

Thursday, February 17, 2011. Day 27 of Bible in 90 Days. I am in the book of 2 Kings today and while my SOAP isn't particularly deep today, it is definitely useful. At this time Aramean raiders had invaded the land of Israel, and among their captives was a young girl who had been given to Naaman's wife as a maid. One day the girl said to her mistress, "I wish my master would go to see the prophet in Samaria. He would heal him of his leprosy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Work in Progress.

Reading Through: A New Year, A New Beginning

http://readingthrough-lizzie.blogspot.com/2010/12/new-year-new-beginning.html

Thursday, December 30, 2010. A New Year, A New Beginning. Last time I tried the Bible in 90 Days Challenge, I failed miserably, but learned so much in such a short time. I am resolved to attempt it again this year, not once, but 3 times. I think I will not blog it as often though because that was where I lost steam. RC Sproul called it,. I can be intellectually lazy sometimes. And it is really easy to rationalize. After all, don't I have so much to do already? Of course it is, but it isn't enough is it?

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Women in the Word Wednesdays. This Sunday morning our little one is sick, painful throat and a fever so I am home, sitting on the couch with her and catching up on my Bible in 90 Days readings. I am not a fan of repetitiveness so I slogged through 2nd Chronicles. It was good to get into Ezra and Nehemiah where I am leaving off for the day. It was in 2 Kings, however, that my attention was temporarily held when I was stuck anew by the marvelous Big Picture view that God holds.

Reading Through: Playing Catch-Up, Days 9 and 10: Leviticus 14 - Numbers 8

http://readingthrough-lizzie.blogspot.com/2010/07/playing-catch-up-days-9-and-10.html

Friday, July 16, 2010. Playing Catch-Up, Days 9 and 10: Leviticus 14 - Numbers 8. Lots more rules, here, many would have helped with the prevention and spreading of disease. Though it looks a little rabidly overkill with the "unclean" issues, especially women with their period. Hey you fans of etymology, the origins of the word scapegoat is in Jewish ceremonial law! I am not a fan of Leviticus, it is a book of rules that seem extreme to me, here in our own time. I need a law for this? If he had good caus...

Reading Through: Behind is getting to be a relative term, how about Bible in 90ish days?

http://readingthrough-lizzie.blogspot.com/2010/07/behind-is-getting-to-be-relative-term.html

Monday, July 19, 2010. Behind is getting to be a relative term, how about Bible in 90ish days? All righty then, in Numbers 11-14, more grumbling by the Israelites till God gets mad enough to forbid anyone who grumbled, over the age of twenty, that was counted in the census, to go into the land He has given them. Here is another one, "anyone who touches the water of cleansing will be unclean till evening" the water of cleansing makes one unclean? I don't get it. From there they continued on to Beer. God t...

Reading thoughtfully

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Really enjoyed reading Between a rock and hard place. By Aron Ralston. It was a story well told that kept me reading until the end. The story also left me wanting to know more about Aron and Canyonlands, the site of the story. No doubt it is natural to a snail to think that any evolution which threatens to do away with shells will result in general death from exposure. I know the blogging community is hella diverse and that almost half of us are overseas. However, for those of us in the states.our economy took a huge hit a few years ago. When states and cities started making huge budget cuts one of the first things that took a hit were libraries. Hundreds of libraries across the US were shut down and even more were downsized. Reading Through History Book Club

Thursday, November 5, 2009. I don't know about the rest of you, but I enjoyed our little break from the norm this month; and getting into the Halloween spirit. I also read Frankenstein. With my kids this month (well the Children's Illustrated Classic version, anyway,) and in reading two "classic horror stories" I came to the conclusion that I didn't find them "horrific" as much as sad. So what did you think? Links to this post. Friday, October 23, 2009. Next discussion starts on Nov. 5th (on Dr. ...I lov...
