Where I write about the many things that interest me. Friday, August 13, 2010. Dog' days of Summer. I never have been fond of summer. too hot to do much of anything. Can't take the dogs anywhere because of the heat. Of course I work out in the heat, so it seems to me like the summer lasts forever! One of the things I have been doing, because I can sit in front of the fan and do it, is crochet! So, here are a few of the latest projects. many will be posted on my Etsy store as soon as I can.

veganism, activism, and the reality of depression | Vegina

Musings from a feminist vegan rabble-rouser…. Veganism, activism, and the reality of depression. June 15, 2011. I am depressed. Some days my heart is heavier than my feet and I have no energy to get up and go. But I am not depressed because I am vegan nor am I depressed because of my activism. I am depressed because most people choose to exploit animals for culinary preference, fashion, and entertainment no good reason at all when it comes down to it. While this is my. Conversations with Ginger: On Black History Month
http://craftyk9-gingerc.blogspot.com/2011/02/on-black-history-month.html
Where I write about the many things that interest me. Saturday, February 5, 2011. On Black History Month. I have never been fond of hyphenated Americans, of any kind. If you are a citizen of this country, born or naturalized, you are AMERICAN, period. That said, it is February, and hence it is again Black History Month. Another designation I have never been happy with. Why not American History month? In fact, let’s go back to the beginning of the country. I do not have enough space here to cover the enti...

You have to put yourself in an animal’s perspective | Daine's Musings
https://dainesmusings.wordpress.com/2012/04/05/you-have-to-put-yourself-in-an-animals-perspective
A Little Bit of Everything. You have to put yourself in an animal’s perspective. Since my major is Animal Biology, one of my mandatory courses this semester was Animal Welfare. Very interesting course with lots of reasons to have different opinions. It’s had me thinking about my own thoughts on animal welfare and rights. One thing I specifically wanted to talk about was the tendency of AR people to go, “Well, how would you like it if you were raised to be killed? My reasons for not being a vegetarian.

‘Domestic?”Wild?”Tame?”What?’ | Daine's Musings
https://dainesmusings.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/domesticwildtamewhat
A Little Bit of Everything. Okay guys, a while ago I made a post about my thoughts on the misuse of the words ‘wild’ and ‘tame’. I decided to redo that and here you go;. Domestic’, ‘Wild’, ‘Tame’? What do these words mean? Shows us that the process need not take more than 50 years. Probably the most common sentence spoken by people who oppose exotic animal ownership is These animals belong in ‘the Wild’! Well, what is ‘the Wild’, anyways? Did Ignatieff just stab his fellow coalition members in the back?

My reasons for not being a vegetarian | Daine's Musings
https://dainesmusings.wordpress.com/2012/05/23/my-reasons-for-not-being-a-vegetarian
A Little Bit of Everything. My reasons for not being a vegetarian. I thought I’d post this since I posted it as a comment on an article and I really like it. The article was about meat being considered more ‘macho’ than vegetarianism and a lot of vegetarians were leaving negative comments about people who eat meat. If others want to be vegetarians, go ahead, I am certainly not going to condemn them. However, these are MY personal reasons for not being a vegetarian;. We have a place in the ecosystem; I pe...

12 year old murderer now going to university | Daine's Musings
https://dainesmusings.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/12-year-old-murderer-now-going-to-university
A Little Bit of Everything. 12 year old murderer now going to university. It’s been a while but I thought I’d mention some thoughts I had after reading an online new article and its comments. The article is talking about how the girl is doing therapy, has done well in school, and is now starting a university degree. All of them talk about character and knowing the difference between right and wrong, and they are SO convinced that they are better than this girl. How? They boggle my mind. The purpose o...
