Real Food for Fuel: Race Report: Mountain Masochist 50 Miler
http://realfoodforfuel.blogspot.com/2013/11/race-report-mountain-masochist-50-miler.html
Monday, November 4, 2013. Race Report: Mountain Masochist 50 Miler. How about with WHAT AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Before getting to race day, I'll throw out this quick backstory. Saturday was my third time out on the Mountain Masochist (MMTR) course. The first being in 2006, when I had the wonderful opportunity to crew/pace a friend. We ran the last 10 miles together which was my first 'true' trail running experience, and at the end I earned an unexpected kiss on the cheek! We arrived for the pre-race dinne...
Real Food for Fuel: Oh! The Places You Will Go!

Tuesday, December 30, 2014. The Places You Will Go! When I look back on 2014, I think of the challenges that have been overcome, the progress that's been made, and most of all, the many adventures that took place along the way! One of my favorite poems has always been Dr. Seuss's "Oh, The Places You'll Go! Oh, the places you'll go! There is fun to be done! There are points to be scored. There are games to be won. And the magical things you can do with. That ball will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Real Food for Fuel: April 2014
http://realfoodforfuel.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 28, 2014. Recipe: Mason Jar Overnight Oats. This past weekend was the Promise Land 50k just outside of Lynchburg, VA. If you recall, I ran this last year and has not do much of a good day. This year I gladly watched from the sidelines, serving as crew for the hubby, bro-in-law and BFF and photographer for the Ultra VT team. Pre-Race trying to wake up and stay warm! Camping followed by a long day on the trails can make eating healthy difficult! Just above Apple Orchard Falls, near the 30 mil...

Real Food for Fuel: Athlete Spotlight: David Horton
http://realfoodforfuel.blogspot.com/2014/02/athlete-spotlight-david-horton.html
Friday, February 28, 2014. Athlete Spotlight: David Horton. I've known for a while now that I wanted to interview Dr. David Horton as one of my athlete spotlights, but I could not pinpoint why. There's just something special about Horton that makes him QUITE a memorable person. It may be his LOUD mouth, he can yell and carry on (all fun of course! Warning: the interview is about as long as the ultra-marathons he has completed. But well worth the read I assure you! What differences have you noticed? I am ...

Welcome to the Pain Cave. It never always gets worse. Last Long Run before Grindstone 100: The Ring. Miles covered: 56.9 (Woodstock) of 70.8 mi. 2014 results: http:/ www.vhtrc.org/results/2014/TheRing.htm. Last summer, I went into The Ring. With no qualms whatsoever about dropping at any point. It would, of course, be nice to finish, but joining the Fellowship was not my primary goal. I was more concerned with getting good time on feet for my last long run before Grindstone. Start to Milford Gap:. 133 mi...

Welcome to the Pain Cave. It never always gets worse. 2014 Holiday Lake 50k Race Report. Welcome to the Pain Cave. It never always gets worse. Running Playlist Song of the Day: Take Me to Church. Such a raw, beautiful song … because who among us can ever claim that our actions *never* come in conflict with our beliefs causing a crisis in faith? Take Me to Church. My lover’s got humor. She’s the giggle at a funeral. Knows everybody’s disapproval. I should’ve worshiped her soonerIf the heavens ever did speak. She’s the last true mouthpiece. Every Sunday’s getting more bleak. I was born sick,.

Welcome to the Pain Cave. It never always gets worse. Questions to Ask Your Runner if You’re Gonna Pace …. This past weekend, I paced my friend, Larry Huffman, at the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100. Beginning at 4 am on Saturday, Larry ran 103.7 miles. At the Catherine Furnace Lutheran Camp at the southern end of Fort Valley, just over the mountain from Luray, Virginia. Larry and me at Hawkbills Summit, the highest point in Shenandoah National Park @ 4,050 feet at Sophie’s Death March in July 2013.
