A Place for Strangers and Beggars

A Place for Strangers and Beggars. Where story tellers and friends hang out. Authority: Parting Thoughts on Retirement (a long post that does come to a point). Jun 1st, 2015 at 8:18 AM. It was chaotic, messy and glorious. When the district built a facility to take our 9th graders and the overflow of 8th graders from the middle schools, we were able to go back to a traditional calendar, but the Fruita teachers liked the 12-week schedule so much that we kept it. I don’t know if jealousy was really th...

Call Me "Teacher": A Suggestion for the First Week of "School
http://callmeteacher.blogspot.com/2011/08/suggestion-for-first-week-of-school.html
Monday, August 1, 2011. A Suggestion for the First Week of "School. Below is a little plan I devised for getting to know my kids in a quick and easy way while not wasting valuable class time. Hopefully there will be something here that you can use to make your life a little easier and gather some important information about your students, as well. Let the kids sit anywhere for the first four days. This allows you to see who is chummy with whom and who is a loner. Let them know your specific expectations.

Call Me "Teacher": In the Business of Dreams: A Tribute to Teachers
http://callmeteacher.blogspot.com/2012/05/in-business-of-dreams-tribute-to.html
Tuesday, May 8, 2012. In the Business of Dreams: A Tribute to Teachers. Is the school year really almost over? It is indeed a great pleasure to be writing to some of my favorite kinds of people, teachers. I like people who are just a little odd, a bit peculiar, all right – just weird. You’re not even offended by that, are you? Okay, that’s weird, too. I mean, you are about to get this great summer break, and what do you do? Say enough to them? Teach everything they will need to make it in the next grade?

Call Me "Teacher": And Then There Were None
http://callmeteacher.blogspot.com/2011/09/and-then-there-were-none.html
Saturday, September 17, 2011. And Then There Were None. I recently read an article about the sad state of affairs in the world of aviation. It seems that hardly any pilots exist anymore who can manually fly a plane. Most completely rely upon computers to do the flying for them. In an AP article by Joan Lowy from August of 2011, the following was related:. A draft FAA study found pilots sometimes 'abdicate too much responsibility to automated systems.'. We're forgetting how to fly,' said. Rory Kay, an air...

Wednesday, June 20, 2012. One Child at a Time. How easily we lose what our founding fathers fought to win when we fail to recognize the loss of freedom, especially as it occurs in our public schools. One Child at a Time. 8220;Good morning, children.”. 8220;Good morning, Ms. James,” the children chorused as they welcomed the end of the awkward moment. 8220;This is Ms. Thomas, your new teacher. Please show her how happy you are that she is here.”. You said it perfectly together! A deafening silence blanket...

Call Me "Teacher": March Presentation to Board

Friday, April 1, 2011. March Presentation to Board. When I tell my husband that I hate talking about money, he always responds with, “Well, at least we have some money to talk about.”. This was not always the case since we both grew up very poor and had some very lean years early in our marriage. But, this was good for us because we learned to do most things for ourselves. That is the theme of most of the comments I have received on my blog site. These folks know what works best, are experts in their fie...
