LE Egypt: [by Christine]
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008/07/by-christine.html
Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Tonight Jake and I ate at McDonalds, again. I am not really sure how many McDonalds trips that makes for us now, but the truth is we have both had quite a nasty bug the last day or so and so we needed somewhere that we could trust the food. It is a sad thought when McDonalds is the healthiest thing for you to eat. Tomorrow is my last day of children's classes, and I am so thankful. In other news, I do want to point out that Jake got hit on today. Actually, it was more like acc...

LE Egypt
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008/07/greetings-from-library-of-alexandria.html
Wednesday, July 2, 2008. Greetings from the Library of Alexandria! A lot of this post is lifted from an e-mail that I just sent the fam. at home. And this is my first one on the blog since when I first introduced Julie to the cyberworld! It goes against all of my library ethics so I think I might boycott. This is why education is such a problem in Egypt (or at least some of my students tell me). the libraries are expensive. So I skipped out on going close[! The kids classes have been going really great&#...

LE Egypt: The Beginning of Ends
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008/07/beginning-of-ends.html
Wednesday, July 16, 2008. The Beginning of Ends. The G8 summit, and so on. We took the train down south to Cairo, slithering through the smaller towns at midnight. I slept most of the way and we arrived at about 2-2:30 AM. Last time I slept on the train Christine pointed out that I had black ink on one side of my face. It turn out that the plastic bag I was carrying with some soft things in it – an impromptu pillow! Stamped across the side of my head for the weekend. But alas! After this there was some s...

LE Egypt: April 2008
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2008. Sam inspiration to volunteer with LE in Egypt came from her semester at sea experience during which she stopped in Egypt. She is excited both to teach and to learn; she loves new cultures and is thrilled to experience Egypt’s. Monday, April 21, 2008. Jake's best friend attends GW, although, I haven't had the chance to meet him, and he has a friend who understands my hybrid mid-western/mildly southern accent (She's also from Pittsburgh. I just had to throw that in.). As for his ...

LE Egypt: June 2008
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Today I began teaching! The past few days have been consumed with last minute preparations (along with the usual complications ☺ ) Anyway, I have 16 wonderful 14-16 year olds and I couldn’t be happier. 14 boys and 2 girls.oh those poor, poor girls. 8221; They enjoyed saying that to each other when one of them broke into accidental Arabic. Hey, it’s lame, but it made Arabic practically non-existent in the class. We wrapped the day up with “Life is a Highway” by Rascal F...This Mich...

LE Egypt: Again!
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008/07/again.html
Wednesday, July 9, 2008. How are you all? Or factories along the highway, a man or two walking along the road by himself or with a donkey, and other vehicles zipping past down the sweltering belt of black pavement for miles and miles until we reached the Red Sea: Ayn Sukhnah. This was all on the 4th of July! That I got before coming here was a fantastic investment. The sword fights with rolled up posterboards was particularly amusing and I give the morning a "Success! Since this weekend we've been jealou...

LE Egypt: Betch. By Daniel-- I'm in Cairo right now full from Gad and sitting in the AC--Accommodating Scott Smith
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008/07/betch-by-daniel-im-in-cairo-right-now.html
Saturday, July 19, 2008. Betch By Daniel- I'm in Cairo right now full from Gad and sitting in the AC- Accommodating Scott Smith. First thing’s first: Jake, your last post (I haven’t read any others, unfortunately) was a real delight. I think everyone participating in this blog, as readers and writers alike, can learn a thing or two from your poetic prose. Finally: I apologize for the characteristic American arrogance and self-righteousness that I’ve just embodied. I honestly couldn’t care...If I am not i...

LE Egypt: Imagination is more Important than Wisdom...
http://leegypt.blogspot.com/2008/07/imagination-is-more-important-than.html
Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Imagination is more Important than Wisdom. First of all - Daniel - I'm sorry that I'm bumping you're last post down. We all want it to stay at the top of the blog because all of your thoughts were so neatly composed and exquisitely summed up many of our feelings about teaching here over the past weeks. But alas. An eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind." - Ghandi. Never look down on anybody unless you're helping him up." - Jesse Jackson. Laboratory of earth. With n...
