Port Townsend Artists’ Round Table. If you know me at all, you know I like to try to be clever. My first instinct for this post was to create a clever title, throw in a few clever turns of phrase and make you laugh a little and think “how clever.” But I don’t want to. Not about this. So I’m going to tell you the truth. Where do I go from here? 8221; I opened the door and Anita dragged me through it. 8220;Well, what is it you want to say? What is it you want to do with your photography? Register for a Clo...

You may have guessed that this would be the November wallpaper if you saw it when I posted it on Flickr. And you would have been right. After I shot and processed it, it was obvious to me that it would make a fine desktop/phone/tablet wallpaper. So here it is. I shot this at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, about 10 minutes from my office, on my lunch break. It’s the same location I shot for the June 2011 wallpaper. November 2011 wallpaper Desktop (1920 x 1200). Posted in Close to Home. And take a...
ART and honesty | EDWARD BRYDON

6 August, 2013. On the last evening of three discussion-laden days and nights, something was brewing inside me, and when that happens I tend to get quiet. For about two hours I sat and listened, fidgeting and drawing deeper into myself. But I knew there would be a point when I could not be quiet, and that point eventually came. I was in Port Townsend, WA, to attend the 3rd Artists Round Table. ART), put together by Ray Ketcham. Previous ART participant Stuart Sipahigil. Each morning of the weekend progra...

Once again, I find myself apologizing for the lack of posts here this last month. No excuse, really, except that I’ve just got a lot to do. June looks to be a promising month for photogaphy for me, so I’ll get back on track soon. It the meantime, here’s your desktop wallpaper for June. If you haven’t seen it on my Flickr photostream. You’ll probably recognize it. Let me know what you think. June 2011 Wallpaper Large (2560 x 1600). June 2011 Wallpaper Small (1280 x 800). May 30th, 2011 at 3:32 pm. Faded a...
December 2011 wallpaper | The Light Without
http://thelightwithout.com/2011/11/29/december-2011-wallpaper/comment-page-1
This one is from the commute home after a rather long day at work. It was a cold and wet fall evening, and the wind was blowing away the last leaves on the trees. The road was littered with mostly yellow leaves and the rain really brought out the colors that appeared in my headlights. I had made a similar photograph. During my One Camera/One Lens/One Month experiment. December 2011 wallpaper Desktop (2560 x 1600). December 2011 wallpaper iPad (1024 x 1024). December 2011 wallpaper iPhone (640 x 960).

Thinking about thinking and not thinking. How much thinking do you do when you photograph? What did this tell me? Well, that some of the things I worried about when making photographs could now be relegated to what you might describe as muscle memory. I could trust myself to do them as needed whenever I made a photograph and concentrate on what I wanted to express with the photograph. And instead of worrying about those things, I was free to really think about how the photograph would. After you’ve done ...

Archive July | The Light Without

Sorry for the delay for the July wallpaper. It’s my birthday weekend and I had a bit of a bug that had me down for about 24 hours. Better late than never, though. This is from my recent stay in Port Townsend, Washington and the Artist’s Round Table I attended there. We had performed our daily morning ritual by heading over to Better Living Through Coffee. So I made a few photographs in the grey, foggy morning. This is the best of them. I hope you enjoy it. July 2011 Wallpaper Desktop (1920 x 1200). Andre...
