An Open Letter by a Feminist: In Solidarity
http://letterbyafeminist.blogspot.com/2011/03/in-solidarity.html
Tuesday, 22 March 2011. Over the last few days, university staff across the United Kingdom have been striking over cuts to our pensions, with a national strike to be held this Thursday. For more information, see here: http:/ www.ucu.org.uk/index.cfm? If you want to follow this check out: http:/ twitter.com/#! Glasgowoccupied and http:/ twitter.com/#! I also appreciated reading. That Martha Wardop (Green councillor and women's rights campaigner) phoned up GU's principal to tell him off! Got to love it!

ABSURDIST PARADISE: June 2011
http://absurdistparadise.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Epiphany and Resolution on Grading. I've been so grumbly and fierce lately, looking at everything including Tot and AL through a black cloud. (I had an annoying project hanging over my head along with laryngitis on top of the move.) But I've just finished an annoying project and I'm almost over this laryngitis and Tot is taking a nap, and it's time to recommit myself to being more positive. Labels: health and peace. Sunday, June 26, 2011. He's had pinkeye for the last few days, ...

My Hiding Place: The Tensions of Teacher Prep - the money version
http://museyme.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-tensions-of-teacher-prep-money.html
Monday, August 5, 2013. The Tensions of Teacher Prep - the money version. My sense is that state governments are interested in pouring money into private ventures (TFA, charters, online programs) rather than invest in teacher education programs at the state universities. Which is crazy because anyone who wants to be certified usually ends up going through a state school program (since they usually have a more expansive program). Any way to fundraise for these kinds of programs? August 6, 2013 at 6:11 AM.

I wish I could say I followed up that last post. With an extended honeymoon in Europe with the Woman Formerly Known as Goose and Never to Be Referred to as My Wife. (Don’t worry — I’ll stick with WFKG. I’ll figure out the other stuff later and get back to you. In less than three months. I swear. Room It’...

Serenity: December 2005
http://someotherspringbillie.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 22, 2005. Nina and the train. I met someone this afternoon, waiting for the train. I don't normally converse much with strangers like that, but these were unusual circumstances what with the transit strike. We started talking to find out whether the train was a bronx shuttle, or one that went further north. She'd gone into one violent relationship after another, I'd seen that in my mom and steered clear of any men actually in my home. It was pretty amazing, really. Especially for s...

Serenity: July 2005
http://someotherspringbillie.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 19, 2005. Have you ever been sitting in the movie theatre, paid $10, have your popcorn and soda in hand, another $10, and then the Jimmy Fund (for cancer research) commercial rolls, and the staff walk around the theatre with their plastic donation containers, and you pretend not to see? Cause you’ve already spent $20, and you’re not willing to fork out another one? So she has to eliminate things one item at a time from her cart, till she hits the magic number and the EBT card goes through?

Thursday, July 5, 2012. My parents are escapees too, though they only like 2 hours (at most) from family members. I used to envy my cousins closer relationships with my moms parents, but I realize Ive also have the ability to move away (and move back)and take risks in ways that my other relatives never did. A record of thoughts about teaching, writing, and living the academic life. Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Tearing Apart and Putting Together: The Icons at Um er-Rasas. Instead of working on the next chapter of my Revelation writing project, yesterday afternoon I spent a fair amount of time labeling photos I took at Um er-Rasas (known in the ancient world as Kastrom Mefa'a) in Jordan. The site, a UNESCO heritage site. Posted by Lynn H. Monday, July 12, 2010. Posted by Lynn H. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
