Whispers of some quiet conversation. November 11, 2011 · 11:03. Teachers Day wasn’t quite the blowout that it was last year, but I still had fun. It was a small but stalwart group who participated. The other women and I cooked literally all day outside in the teacher’s compound. Remember last year when the goat we had purchased ran away? They even made David and me get up (United States! Whispers of some quiet conversation. Family visit →. July 2, 2011 · 12:02. I’ve been really lucky with my health during my time (so far! Was actually herpes, so we ruled that out, too. I still have scars on my face and neck, like those of a stubborn sunburn, but I imagine they’ll continue to fade. In the meantime, I’ll continue to be vigilant about using my mosquito net when I sleep. Family visit →. One response to “. July 2, 2011 at 13:20. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Whispers of some quiet conversation. More parties →. November 11, 2011 · 10:34. Suddenly the year is over. Most of my students are gone, on summer vacation. The teachers and students in 7th and 10th grades are busy taking national exams, the teachers busy controling and correcting them. I was sad to say goodbye to my students, of course. We had little parties with my theater groups so that helped bring some closure to what otherwise feels surreal and anti-climatic. More parties →. One response to “.

Whispers of some quiet conversation. REDES Conference, 2011. School year ends →. September 3, 2011 · 05:36. Our Peace Corps friend Micah came to visit so David and I had the chance to do a little. The garden is already full of lettuce, cabbage, different kinds of greens, onions, potatoes and we’ll soon have potatoes and beans. We’ll never be able to eat it all and will have to give it away. Even though I haven’t done barely any work on it, it’s satisfying and fun to eat things that I picked myself. I'm R...

Whispers of some quiet conversation. Next Post →. July 2, 2011 · 12:03. I was fortunate enough to host my parents Tom and Mary Louise in Mozambique at the end of May. They flew into Beira and we traveled the next day to Estaquinha. It was lovely to introduce them to everyone in my life and to show them around. Luisa cooked all the quintessential Mozambique dishes, and we took dug-out canoes across the Búzi River. Next Post →. One response to “. July 2, 2011 at 13:23. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A blog about my experiences abroad. We have received your love. This post is a conglomeration of things I’ve observed these last few days:. Section of my list, I found this, (don’t forget to comeback to indonesia yheyen). Literally younger , but here meaning little sister ), Yheyen. She had used my computer before to check something online. It made me laugh, and tear up, all at the same time. And it makes me realize I have to come back! I’ll never think of my to-do list the same way. 8211; went to lunch ...

Genghis Jhan: January 2012
http://genghis-jhan.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Life in the Land of the Blue Sky. Monday, January 16, 2012. Birthdays for Baagii, Bullets for the Rest. On her way home a few hours later, the corpse was still there, as well as those of other dogs. I'm sure Kaede would not classify this as one of her better days in Peace Corps. Still, it's easy to judge Mongolia for this, and it got even easier this week. What could be more cruel than shooting an innocent dog in broad daylight? Often with children or the elderly right there? Well, it wasn't technically ...

Life in the Land of the Blue Sky. Thursday, May 31, 2012. Genghis Jhan's Last Ride. But that seems appropriate. Disappearing without a trace, any and all tracks trampled into chaos by hundreds of horses whose riders were then killed, just like the great leader whose name inspired it. Genghis Jhan: Having our кекс and eating it

Life in the Land of the Blue Sky. Friday, October 28, 2011. Having our кекс and eating it. We decided to go for it. Unfortunately we were denied, so we started packing up and transferring our projects and saying goodbyes (see our aimagmates rocking out at our going-away karaoke sing-off below). Then, the day before we were to leave Choibalsan, Ellen called us back. At the behest of our ill family member, PC had reconsidered the case and changed their minds! October 28, 2011 at 9:22 AM. Genghis Jhan: Visiting
http://genghis-jhan.blogspot.com/p/visiting.html
Life in the Land of the Blue Sky. So you wanna come to Mongolia, eh? All that being said, Mongolia isn't some sort of candy-coated paradise. It's a third-world country, and a lot about being here may seem very difficult to someone accustomed to life in the developed world. So before you decide to come, make sure you think about the following. Obviously if you're seriously thinking about coming, you should pop me an email anyway, and we'll try to hammer out all these fun details. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
