Becca's Pen and Think. Thursday, May 21, 2015. Entry for THE WRITERS VOICE 2015. Approx. 50,000 words. A 79-mile road trip on a riding mower could scare any twelve-year-old. But for Cole, a boy whose Autism Spectrum Disorder makes him hate leaving his own house, even the thought is terrifying. Leaving Reason, #1. Mom thinks I’m stupid enough to run over my second-best friend. 8220;You got me good this time.” He laughs and runs out of the spraying water. Then I see Mom. She must have walked off the po...

Becca's Pen and Think: On Rick Walton, REMAKE, and a Supportive Writing Family

http://rebeccabirkin.blogspot.com/2015/04/on-rick-walton-remake-and-supportive.html

Becca's Pen and Think. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. On Rick Walton, REMAKE, and a Supportive Writing Family. Rick has also influenced the other reason I keep writing: He and Carol were a major force in making the local writing community what it is: a group of talented writers who encourage and support each other. Alison told Rick that it’s like being part of a big family. Labels: Ann Dee Ellis. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). On Rick Walton, REMAKE, and a Supportive Writing F. View my complete profile.

Becca's Pen and Think: 250 words for PitchSlam -- Comments Appreciated

http://rebeccabirkin.blogspot.com/2015/04/250-words-for-pitchslam-comments.html

Becca's Pen and Think. Wednesday, April 8, 2015. 250 words for PitchSlam - Comments Appreciated. I had my entry ready to go by 3 pm Monday, but stuck in it my drafts folder for that "just in case" panic edit later on. Oh, how I wish I'd just sent it then. But I had places to be and didn't get home until close to deadline. I sent on time, but to the wrong address! I'm sure I'm not the only one, so I'd really love feedback on LAWNMOWER, LEAVING. Leaving Reason, One. One thing I can do. Mom wipes her wet gl...

A Day at the Parke: April 2009

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 28, 2009. So yesterday Roman would not let me call him anything but Roman. Not the nicknames I've always used. Not even Buddy. Just Roman. Today, however, he is NOT Roman. Please don't make the mistake of calling him that. Today, his name is Max. And he's a dog. Sunday, April 26, 2009. My baby is three. I can't believe it. It seems like only yesterday. Here are some of the things going on with Roman:. Roman's favorite things are the color yellow, cars and trucks, pirates, any Baby Einstein...

A Day at the Parke: Grace's Recital

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009/05/graces-recital.html

Sunday, May 31, 2009. Okay, so the recital was a few weeks ago, but I've kind of been apathetic toward blogging lately. Grace did great. I didn't do so great on the pictures though, because I was busy chasing Roman. Steve did film it, but I'm not quite computer literate enough to post any video. :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Day at the Parke: Roman at Three

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009/04/roman-at-three.html

Sunday, April 26, 2009. My baby is three. I can't believe it. It seems like only yesterday. Here are some of the things going on with Roman:. We finally moved Roman from his crib to his toddler bed. We tried this unsuccessfully months ago. He just wouldn't stay in his bed, especially for naps. This time though, we're going through with it. Even though he hasn't taken a single nap since we made the switch. I'm not sure I like it though. We love you Roman! We're so happy that you're part of our family.

A Day at the Parke: Cheap Diapers and the Hurt and Kill Book

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009/05/cheap-diapers-and-hurt-and-kill-book.html

Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Cheap Diapers and the Hurt and Kill Book. Roman has also decided lately that the illustrated kids' Book of Mormon story book that we have is the best book ever. The reason? It has Jesus AND it has lots of guys that "hurt and kill". Our family has been reading the illustrated version of the book of Mormon every night now and they LOVE it also. They can learn so much in a fun way! May 20, 2009 at 7:26 AM. He is such a little boy! I love those books! May 20, 2009 at 9:56 AM.

A Day at the Parke: June 2009

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 4, 2009. How fast can you get to Disneyland? In the end we decided to make a super-quick trip. We left Tuesday after Grace's graduation and drove straight to Huntington Beach. We hung out at the beach, bought some yummy peaches from a farmers' market, and ate dinner at Wahoo's. (And neither of our kids threw up this time! Yesterday we went to Disneyland all day and then we drove home last night. Whew! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Whatever your present environment may be, you will fall, rema...

A Day at the Parke: Random Pictures

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009/05/other-random-pictures.html

Sunday, May 31, 2009. This is our pathetic running-through-the-sprinklers set up. We don't have any grass in our yard, so the kids can't actually run through the sprinklers. Instead they just kind of stand there and get wet. It does keep them entertained for quite a while though. Funny about the water sprinkler! Glad you had fun at the Shark Reef- I felt the same way, but I was glad Ellie enjoyed it. :). Good job on your dance recital Grace! May 31, 2009 at 1:38 PM. May 31, 2009 at 3:34 PM. Hone on the R...

A Day at the Parke: September 2008

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 26, 2008. Grace finally lost her second tooth. Just in time for picture day at school! If you look closely, you might notice that there's probably only enough room for one tooth in the space left by her two missing teeth. Braces are definitely going to be part of Grace's future. (You might also notice a juice mustache, but we'll just ignore that.). Thursday, September 11, 2008. Fourth Time's the Charm? So, I decided that while she was doing so well, I'd get her into level 2 asap. Th...

A Day at the Parke: January 2009

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 30, 2009. Citizen of the Month. Today we went to an assembly at Grace's school and watched her receive an award for being a citizen of the month. We're proud of Grace for being such a good girl! In case you were wondering, it was also pajama day at school.). Sunday, January 11, 2009. Steve is now officially half-way through law school. Hip, hip, hooray! Only a year and a half to go. They also got to meet Santa that last night of the cruise. After presents on Christmas morning we headed to...

A Day at the Parke: June 2008

http://romangrace.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 17, 2008. Ah summer. It's been so hot lately, we can only stand to be outside if we're getting wet. This makes the time pass very slowly during the week when Steve's busy with an internship, night classes and community service (through the law school). But the weekends he has free! We've been packing in all the activities we can during our weekends, so that we can stand the weekdays. Thursday, June 5, 2008. This is what happens when you don't have a lawn. Dirt Machines

The most effective way to make fun of your rug rats? Monday, January 13, 2014. About a mom and a wax strip. That's right. A wax strip. Do you guys remember the Nad's hair removal waxing system? So here I am sitting in the bathroom, with my ticket back to the wonder years. I read the directions and the included testimonials very carefully. JUST KIDDING. I'm a first time parent. I didn't have time for that, and its pretty self explanatory, right? Or am I just that hairy? Okay, I digress. Back to tweezi...
