What's great about these delicious brownies is getting your chocolate craving satisfied without the risk of getting carried away and eating too many- thanks to the heft of all the black beans (and dates) they contain! Yep- black beans are the super stars in "Super Raspberry Protein Brownies" from Dr. Neal Barnard's newest book, Power Foods for the Brain. 1/4 teaspoon safflower oil. 2 15-ounce cans low-sodium black beans, drained and rinsed. 1 cup pitted dates.

We know we're supposed to eat fruits and vegetables every day- the Center for Disease Control recommends 9 servings minimum. 4 fruit and 5 vegetable. Saturday, June 21, 2014. 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (I use 1 cup all-purpose and 3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour). 1/4 cup cocoa powder. 1 tsp baking soda. 1/2 cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed. 1/3 cup vegetable oil (I use canola). 1 tsp apple cider vinegar. 3 large kale leaves, stems removed (chop up the stems and add them to soup or stir fry). You don't have to wash and slice and dice: ladling heated chili from a can (Trader Joe's has some fabulous vegan selections) over a bed of pre-washed greens from a bag does the trick.
