The Artist's Studio: Petals and Cream III ~In Progress II

http://rebeccafinch-studio.blogspot.com/2008/03/petals-and-cream-iii-in-progress-ii.html

A blog by Rebecca Finch. Monday, March 17, 2008. Petals and Cream III In Progress II. The following images show the continuing progress on this 16x20 painting. I began to block in the flowers, making sure that I was accurately placing the large shapes of light and shadow. I would concern myself with the details after the proper large shapes of value were established. It was then necessary to work in the background to achieve correct edges around the flowers. Also the darks. Certain flowers to receive.

The Artist's Studio: My Secret Illustration Obsession

http://rebeccafinch-studio.blogspot.com/2008/10/my-secret-illustration-obsession.html

A blog by Rebecca Finch. Tuesday, October 21, 2008. My Secret Illustration Obsession. Okay, well I guess the secret's out. Ometimes when I think about creating illustrations, I get a surge of adrenaline. After much research on the subject the process seemed so long and impossible that I finally chose a life of fine art as opposed to dividing my focus on both. Although fine art is very fulfilling, sometimes I walk past the children's book section and all but wipe the drool from my chin. Site Pages and Rel...

The Artist's Studio: Petals and Cream III - In progress

http://rebeccafinch-studio.blogspot.com/2008/03/petals-and-cream-iii-in-progress.html

A blog by Rebecca Finch. Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Petals and Cream III - In progress. In continuation with the Petals and Cream series, a third and larger painting has been started in the studio. But first I found it necessary to figure a way to effectively hang fabric behind my still lifes. The more I paint in the studio, the more I realize what is needed for versatility and space management. The other day I devised a grouping of hooks and wire for such a purpose. Around it to be sure that my values w...

Cindy Swindell: January 2009

http://cindyswindell.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 20, 2009. I've been following a fantastic blog named Different Strokes from Different Folks. Karin Jurik is a wonderful artist and photographer who will post a picture for inspiration. Artist from all over paint their interpretation of it, send her a jpeg and the weeks results are posted. It is facinating to see the different takes on it. Not looking at Karin's blog until I was finished so I wouldn't be influenced. Sunday, January 18, 2009. Labels: 8x6 oil on board. A bit about me.

Cindy Swindell: Qiang Huang ~ Day 3

http://cindyswindell.blogspot.com/2011/04/qiang-huang-day-3.html

Sunday, April 17, 2011. Qiang Huang Day 3. A quick paint morning before the afternoon lecture about the business side of art. Qiang. Is a wonderful teacher, both with the artistic side and the business side. He's very clear, precise and detailed. Did I mention he's an engineer in real life? Would recommend his workshops. And fellow artists. It was great learning experience (but, boy, am I tired! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A bit about me. I am a painter of life. I paint one day at a time.

Cindy Swindell: October 2010

http://cindyswindell.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 2, 2010. I had a wonderful day at a workshop by Bill Kalwick. Today Bill is a lot of fun, very knowledgable, and full of encouragement, especially to someone who hasn't painted in over a year. It feel so great to put brush to canvas, squinting and hoping to find the right values needed. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A bit about me. I am a painter of life. Cindy Swindell: Qiang Huang ~ Day 2

http://cindyswindell.blogspot.com/2011/04/qiang-huang-day-2.html

Saturday, April 16, 2011. Qiang Huang Day 2. Oh, the pain of a high key painting (light background) and a light pink rose. And Cobalt. And a silver bowl. I love a challenge, but hate it at the same time. Again, not a finished piece, but an exercise. Did a demo that included 3 different color roses. It is so beautifully. Done, I could weep. Here's a detail from his painting. April 17, 2011 at 8:27 AM. I love high key paintings, but I feel your pain! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A bit about me.

New Life Island blog. Daily progress on the island. Saturday, September 23, 2006. Unfortunately, it is raining, today. So, unless the skies open up, I don't think there will be any painting, today. That leaves me with 3 unfinished and 3 completed paintings. I've been spending time with Cherie, the Camp Director's wife, today, and will be packing up later on. Thank you for reading and watching as I go. Good bye from the Island. I will keep you updated on how this continues to pan out. Links to this post.
