Monday, 12 January 2015. I found Anthony Shrag's lecture today extremely interesting, he talked to us about controversial works of public art which stimulated a lot of discussion and debate - as not everyone shared the same views on some subjects. Anthony showed us work by artists including, Santiago Sierra, Rebecca Gomperts and Auslander Raus. One piece of work that I found really interesting was Please Love Austria. Friday, 9 January 2015. This series of work was Gillian Wearing's first significant col...

Site-Place-Context: One Day Sculpture

http://www.rebeccahassan.blogspot.com/2015/01/one-day-sculpture.html

Thursday, 8 January 2015. Was a programme featuring 20 pieces of public art which took place in New Zealand between August 2008 and June 2009. I've spent some time looking through all of the work which was part of the event and I have picked a few of my favourite pieces to research further. Heather and Ivan Morison, Journee des Barricades(2008). Amy Howden-Chapman, The Flood, My Chanting(2008). Bekah Carran, I Remember Golden Light(2009). A collection of found images were displayed in a makeshift annex o...

Wednesday, 7 January 2015. A lot of Shrigley's public art pieces are on a small scale and when placed in a large, busy area could be easily missed - small vignettes that are often pinned to lamp posts, fences and walls. A lot of these pieces of work are temporary things which have the ability to be removed or destroyed by the public. Here are some of my favourite pieces of Shrigley's work that I think engage with the public:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Site-Place-Context: Richard Serra

Wednesday, 7 January 2015. In 1981 Richard Serra installed the sculpture Tilted Arc. Richard Serra, Tilted Arc(1981). Researching this piece of work makes me think about the response to public art and the negative reactions that will ineviatably follow. If a piece of art is available for any member of the public to see then it will in most cases not be well received by them all. Once a piece of work is put in a space, how much control does the artist then have? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Site-Place-Context: Queens Cross - First Site Visit

http://www.rebeccahassan.blogspot.com/2015/01/queens-cross-first-site-visit.html

Tuesday, 6 January 2015. Queens Cross - First Site Visit. Today a group of us walked through some areas of the site and I took some initial photographs of things which caught my attention. Something that stood out to me was the brick work and the intricate details that I noticed on a few of the buildings. I didn't realise just how far the Housing Association stretches, I want to go back soon to explore the area some more. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Rebecca Hatch — Right Where You Are

Right Where You Are. Why You Need to be Marking Down. June 11, 2015. I’ve taken up running again on a trail just a few miles from home. I’m a short drive away from slapping my feet against the pavement with my favorite music blasting in my ears. After tucking my key and cell phone safely away, it’s a short stretch and quick walk to begin. Nothing feels quite like eating distance and space up with your sneakers. With my friend Jeanne. Come join us, today. We hope you will.). January 26, 2015. And the deta...

The Bartholomew Family

Wednesday, June 22. Oh summer, it's nice to see you again. FINALLY, the weather in Logan has warmed up. I get awfully crabby in the Winter, especially when it lasts way longer then it should. But then again that is Utah, so unpredictable. I hope maybe someday that Jordan and I can move back East. I miss it terribly. Speaking of Logan, Jordan, Kyra and I moved back to Logan almost two months ago. We are loving it! Soon Jordan's brother and his family will be moving over too! It was Jordan's 1st Father's D...
