The start of the CSA season - Cookbook Journey
http://mmarques.livejournal.com/361450.html
The start of the CSA season. Jun 19th, 2015 at 8:00 AM. Last week, I picked up the first CSA basket of the year. It included lots of lettuce, radishes, asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberry leaves, and honey. Raspberry leaves can be used to brew an herbal tea. The tea was OK, but might have been better if I had mixed in some honey. The strawberries were delicious. As you can see, I ate them plain. I was too impatient to bake with them. Also, I didn't want to bury their flavor. I love fresh asparagus.

In which I cook with Saskatoon berries - Cookbook Journey
http://mmarques.livejournal.com/362992.html
In which I cook with Saskatoon berries. Aug 1st, 2015 at 8:32 AM. Wow, I just realized that it's been a while since I posted. First I'll show you what I cooked a couple of weeks ago. I'll post later about last week's produce. After I shell all the peas, I realize that I don't have so many. I used the peas and some corn in risotto. I cooked the zucchini with eggs. Did I mention that I get eggs from the farm? We're now getting summer fruit. Those are our first plums and apricots. 2 comments Leave a comment.

It's really summer when there's corn in the CSA basket - Cookbook Journey
http://mmarques.livejournal.com/362246.html
It's really summer when there's corn in the CSA basket. Jul 17th, 2015 at 11:08 PM. Last week, we got corn in our CSA basket! This plate is full of so much goodness from the farm basket. We continue to get potatoes, every week more than the last. I sautéed the chicken with garlic, tomatoes, zucchini, and basil. Even a simple sandwich tastes better with farm produce. Even the eggs in this sandwich come from the farm. Sandwiches are a good way to use lettuce when I don't want another salad. Add to technora...

What I cooked last week - Cookbook Journey
http://mmarques.livejournal.com/363431.html
What I cooked last week. Aug 8th, 2015 at 11:35 PM. I tend to cook a lot of stir-fry, but last week I braised beef, carrots, onion greens and mushrooms. When I stir-fry, the heat brings out the sugars and carmelizes. Braised dishes have added moisture. In summer, I don't feel like potato leek soup. So, I cooked the leeks with chicken, and paired the dish with roast potatoes and green beans. 4 comments Leave a comment. Aug 10th, 2015 04:54 pm (UTC). Everything looks so delicious! Winding down the CSA. Oct 25th, 2014 at 12:48 AM. Today, I picked up the penultimate CSA basket of the season. The summer bounty is long past, but the basket was heavy with cabbage, squash, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, garlic, apples, eggs, and a jar of strawberry banana jam. Earlier in the autumn, we enjoyed eggplant. I mad a simple ratatouille, finishing off the last tomato as well. I didn't show you Thanksgiving dinner. I cooked a feast, but only used a few farm produce items: fiesta ...

Why are all the marrow recipes from the UK? - Cookbook Journey
http://mmarques.livejournal.com/363165.html
Why are all the marrow recipes from the UK? Aug 2nd, 2015 at 10:44 AM. When I was looking up recipes, they were all from the UK. So, I'm wondering whether marrow has a different name in the US or isn't grown much. It's a type of summer squash. I stuffed it with homemade bolognese, which was a chance to use more farm veggies: carrot and onion. I froze the scooped out part of the marrow. Slowly, I'm building a stock of frozen veggies to enjoy during the winter. Peaches, plums, and apricots. A huff of wind.

I say tomato and you say potato. Aug 23rd, 2010 at 10:11 PM. I decided to ease into 20 Minutes to Dinner. As I'm dubious about this cookbook. I've used this cookbook occasionally - but only very occasionally. First up was food processor gazpacho with black beans. This was fabulous - and also quick and easy to prepare. The black beans turn the gazpacho into a meal. I loved this dish so much that I'm preparing it for a pot luck later this week. 20 minutes to dinner. From one cookbook to another. It has lot...

Anticipation (Worldcon) tracking spreadsheet. May 24th, 2009 at 5:12 PM. In my day job as a technical writer, I've grown used to tracking things in spreadsheets. So, what did I do after downloading my Hugo Vote Packet and checking out the contents? I created a tracking spreadsheet. Does this sound like something you'd like to use? Thanks to Mary Robinette Kowal (. For hosting the spreadsheet, you can get your own copy. UPDATE* Girl Genius Volume 8. 4 comments Leave a comment. May 26th, 2009 12:51 pm (UTC).
