January 29, 2009. Talipot Palm. Photo courtesy of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens. I found a great website detailing the blooming of a Talipot Palm on a private property near Fairchild: Talipot Miami. One of them, named Andi by its owners, is in full bloom right now. They are indeed majestic trees. If you recall, the Talipot palm located near the fruit pavilion. If you see a Talipot or know of a location where one is planted, let me know! http://volunteeringfairchild.blogspot.com/2009/03/orchid-festival-and-other-news.html
March 12, 2009. Orchid Festival and Other News. Things have been a little quiet around here lately because I had to go on a hiatus. One of my parents had surgery and the other was sick. I've also not been to well and so have had to take it easy. In addition, some management changes at Fairchild have put my work with the fruit program on hold, though I anticipate helping out on random special occasions or at Williams Grove. In the meantime, I'll be working with the Keys Coastal Habitat. Historical museum ...
