Given a phylogenetic tree, representing the evolutionary divergence of a set of genomes, how can we infer the gene order in the ancestral genomes? Our lab has developed mathematical and computational technology to study this question. Our laboratory is focused on tools for studying gene order evolution, in particular special mechanisms such as whole genome duplication, which is particularly common among the angiosperms.
