Reconstructing Jason Lee: From 1906: Moreland

http://reconstructingjasonlee.blogspot.com/2007/12/from-1906-moreland.html

The Mission for Oregon. Wednesday, December 26, 2007. The eulogy of Hon. J.C. Moreland[1]:. He soon saw that when the final settlement of the ownership of this country between this nation and Great Britain then held under treaty of joint occupation should come, that ownership would largely be determined by the citizenship of its settlers. His vindication has come - the church has acknowledged its mistake, and today his bones will be laid in final sepulture in the cemetery he selected 70 years ago, with a...

Reconstructing Jason Lee: The Cemetery

http://reconstructingjasonlee.blogspot.com/2007/12/cemetery.html

The Mission for Oregon. Wednesday, December 5, 2007. What better way to start his story than to begin at the place where it all ended: the Lee Mission Cemetery. My first visit was at night, just a few days ago. In the dark I could tell that the memorial area for Salem's pioneers, called "Diamond Square," had become dilapitated. Many of the headstones were missing, broken, and faded, and the iron railings falling apart. The next few posts will be covering the occasion of Lee's re-internment in June of 1906.

Reconstructing Jason Lee: Unacknowledged Ghosts

http://reconstructingjasonlee.blogspot.com/2008/01/unacknowledged-ghosts.html

The Mission for Oregon. Thursday, January 17, 2008. I had spoken with a man who claimed to have experienced the paranormal in the Lee Mission Cemetery. Could these unmarked graves be the source? Perhaps the names are recorded somewhere of the young Native American students- ones who were quickly converted, civilized, and consumed by Western exposure. 1 Lee, Jason. "Memorial Services at Re-internment of Remains of Rev. Jason Lee." Salem: Salem Public Library, 1906; pg. 58. What Makes a Good Story?

Reconstructing Jason Lee: December 2007

http://reconstructingjasonlee.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

The Mission for Oregon. Saturday, December 29, 2007. Jason Lee's first wife, Pittman, was a woman confident in her own purpose. Like many missionaries of every age, she was convinced that devotion to the field God calls one to is the only and most fullfilling place (since a spouse would be engaged in the same consuming ministry) where one might possibly enter into marriage. From "Jason Lee's Prophetic Vision," the eulogy of Hon. W. D. Fenton[1]:. There is always room for a man of force and he makes room ...

Reconstructing John | A work in progress

A work in progress. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. October 2, 2013. I do not remember what I was thinking I’d do at Umass in the fall of 1989, but that was the plan. Umass is about 7 miles from my old house in Shutesbury, and I must have gotten the acceptance letter days before I had my accident. June 28, 1989 was the date – 20 years to the day after the Stonewall Riots. 8221; and off I drove. That was the last any of my friends ever saw of that version of John. I was taken to the Co...

Reconstructing Law School

Reimagining what it could mean to think like a lawyer. Saturday, June 22, 2013. A Math Lesson for Law School Applicants. True confession: The only class of people I find more annoying than law students are prospective law students. I had a conversation with someone recently that told me she had "deferred law school" for three years. Me: What brought you to Denver? Me:Oh, which one? Her: DU, but I've deferred for three years now. Me: Wow, I didn't realize that they let you defer for that long. But do the ...
