J'ai touché l'automne des idées . Monday, June 1, 2009. Baudelaire - Les fleurs du mal - Ed. Marthiel, Jackson Mathews. This edition is by no means a new edition. The previous edition I'd enjoyed Baudelaire's Les fleurs. In is the much more recent one edited and translated by James McGowan. Which puts the French and English versions opposite each other. I always feel very ambivalent about translated poetry, although I do occasionally do translations myself; fundamentally, I think it can't really work.
