Recovering Empty Nester

Sunday, January 3, 2010. My daughters did this so I thought I would too. Makes you think! 1 What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? Umm, I can't think of anything? Oh yeah, went to Jackson Hole Wyoming, and I also went to Corpus Christi, TX Um, and I saw a dead armadillo! 2 Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I think I did. I love to make new goals. I'm a freak! 3 Did anyone close to you give birth? 4 Did anyone close to you die? May 18th, the day...

Recovering Empty Nester: September 2008

http://recoveringemptynester.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 7, 2008. So, thanks Chelsea! I am also including Stephanie's sister's blog where you can get updates on how the family is doing. Thursday, September 4, 2008. Well, I have gotten a number of comments that it's time for me to update my blog! My heart just hurts for him! I am grateful for my awesome family - for my mom and dad and the almost 51 years that I have had them in my life! What a blessing to be able to grow old together! I am so grateful for my beautiful children. Every one, ...

Recovering Empty Nester: April 2008

http://recoveringemptynester.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 6, 2008. Wow, it's been almost a month! Time sure does fly, it seems faster and faster the older you get! I thought I'd post a bit about what I've been up to and just some thoughts I've had. I'll say right off the top that these remarks are for my children, because I am waxing philosophical this evening and feeling a little preachy, so if that bothers anyone, I apologize! So, I can let my boy go off to war and be at peace, and that is something that I am very grateful for!

Recovering Empty Nester: December 2008

http://recoveringemptynester.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 8, 2008. Tis the Season to be. 1 Wrapping paper or gift bags? I liked wrapped presents with pretty foil paper and beautiful big bows and ribbon, but I HATE wrapping presents - ohmygosh I think that's probably about the worst thing about Christmas! 2 Real tree or Artificial? Artificial, they're pretty, and they never die, and they are much less messy and you always know what you're going to get! 3 When do you put up the tree? The day after Thanksgiving! Yep, me too Shan! No, it's funky!

Recovering Empty Nester: How the Big Randoon and I Met

http://recoveringemptynester.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-big-randoon-and-i-met.html

Monday, December 14, 2009. How the Big Randoon and I Met. So, my daughters have been writing about how they met their spouses, so I thought I'd write how I met Randy. Since it was almost 32 years ago, I think things have probably gotten a little foggy but I think I still remember the gyst of it. Pounds of his hammer the nail was completely pounded in. I was so impressed! I have always been a sucker for someone with a tool belt. And then we drove out to Kelso Lake (which is about 12 miles or more north of...

Baisden Buzz: April 2009

http://baisdenbuzz.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 2, 2009. Happy 60th Birthday, Grandpa Baisden! Happy, Happy Birthday, Grandpa dear! His mom, Great Grandma Beverly, his two sisters, Carol and Linda, brother-in-law, Carl, and Jeff and Anita all flew up from Utah for the day. That had to have been the best and biggest surprise of all. We had a fabulous dinner and lots of fun. There must have been 30 or so people, all family, there. And cousins galore! Kids everywhere. If you're not use to kids, this definitely. Here's a pretty good pic.

Wednesday, March 12, 2008. The lesser of two weevils. Anyone else getting sick of hearing about Hillary or Obama. I'm very interested in this presidential race, and if the primaries are any indication, so is the public. That being said, I'm sort of disenchanted by the rivalry between Hillary and Obama. I've been paying close attention to the candidates, both republican and democrat. Ron Paul is an idiot. Most people would agree that he's pretty much the Ross Peroe. They'd all agree with you. She complain...

The Gentry Royals: February 2008

http://jcgentrysmind.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 13, 2008. We live in a seriously scary world ladies and gentlemen. I have to be completely honest, my faith in the system, that we are in fact "the good guys", has really been shaken to the core. In many ways the saying "ignorance is bliss" is absolutely accurate. When I first heard about the scandals, I can remember saying to myself 'Well, sometimes things like that are necessary". But after hearing about it so much lately, I started delving a little deeper to learn more about it.

The Gentry Royals: Lauren Nicole

http://jcgentrysmind.blogspot.com/2010/03/lauren-nicole.html

Sunday, March 7, 2010. My big sister is coming to visit soon, bringing my niece and nephew and bro-in-law Brett. I'm really excited to see them! Just thought I'd take the time to put to words why my sister is special to me. There are many things to admire in my sister. Things I've always been proud of; she's extremely strong, both mentally and physically. I have a lot of tendencies that I'd consider weaknesses, and I really wish I could have gotten some of Lauro's. Its funny, I didn't know what it'd be l...

The Gentry Royals: Yard Work Reflection

http://jcgentrysmind.blogspot.com/2010/04/yard-work-reflection.html

Thursday, April 15, 2010. I spent several hours today weeding the front yard. I'm not sure what contractor our builder hired to bring in the sod, but all of the houses that were built at the same time on our street have absolutely atrocious. Weed problems, where as newly built houses all have nice weed free lawns. So, after procrastinating several weekends past responsibility, I decided to use my free time productively and clean up the eye sore that was my front lawn. To ponder. We all have different...

Saturday, May 8, 2010. Carla Joann Rodgers was born July 16 th. I can't even imagine my mother as a teenager. LOL. I know she was one, because she did occasionally mention that she thought "The Monkees. Were the cats pajamas, and probably had all the same kinds of things on her bedroom wall as the girls of today. Everytime. I see my mom and dad's wedding photo, I'm really shocked. Its sort of an uncomfortable moment when as a teenaged. I wish I could have borrowed Micheal J. Fox's Delorean. Usually get t...

Sunday, January 31, 2010. The Buddha told a story to his monks:. One day his real son managed to escape from the bandits and found his way back to his old home. His father had rebuilt the house. When he arrived late one night, and knocked on the door, his father called 'Who is there? It is I, your son. Please let me in.'. The father, still carrying the ashes and hopelessly sad, thought this must be some wretched boy making fun of him and he shouted, 'Go away! Stress and a series of unrelated events have ...

His eyes opened, hand automatically reaching to switch off the alarm before the fourth beep. James quietly slipped out of bed, closing the bathroom door behind him so wifey. Wouldn't stir. What Theologians could learn from David Sedaris. We rarely ask of theologians is, Are you a good person? If asked, I suspect most would dodge the question with Well I’m a sinner saved by grace. But if you pressed them for evidence, I imagine most theologians would respond, Why? This is because most theologians hate looking like hypocrites. That is perhaps the one greatest difference between most theologians and David Sederis. Switchfoot used to be my favorite band. When Rumors Never Die. One of the worst...

Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Homing device kicks in again. So I was killing time and went into Payless Shoes for some shoelaces for the last pair of shoes I posted. (note shoes have a HUGE gap between the laces which makes my foot look funny. My feet aren't THAT wide, but if something is for a narrow foot they don't fit. The BC shoes in the last post or SUPER comfy so I decided to keep them.). Last month I had gone looking for these shoes, since a co-worker of mine had them on in Yellow:. Monday, April 18,...
