Life, love, kiddos, recovery. Why this mom is already over it. June 7, 2016. You can feel the excitement in the air. Kids are euphoric, parents are relieved and teachers are downright giddy these days. Summertime is here, and while most of parentdom breathes a sigh of relief, I am wringing my hands with anxiety. I know it makes me sound like a fun-hating shrew, but I can’t help it; this momma doesn’t dig summer. Here’s why:. All the summer trip invites. Why don’t you bring the kids up this week? Man I wo...

Life, love, kiddos, recovery. Live with less Fear: A lesson from my toddler. April 4, 2016. April 4, 2016. So there we were my oldest playing soccer, my youngest running after him and my other half crawling around on the roof inspecting stuff. The ladder stood leaning against the house. Suddenly my 14. How many times in life did I retreat from a challenge because I was worried about failing/losing/falling short? Even simpler, I remember teaching my oldest to use the monkey bars. I recall how I nervou...

Musings On Personal Transformation. March 3, 2016. On the Kindness of Things by John Tuite. I’ve reposted this because I think it is a truly profound piece of work. Treat objects as if they had nervous systems. Bruce Fertman. We tend to treat most objects like they are minor props in a play. They are only real when, and in so far as, they have use to us and the plot we are enacting. They have no voice of their own, no ‘life’ other than that contained in our script. They are not even background.

Life, love, kiddos, recovery. The day I got bullied for being a helicopter mom”. July 22, 2016. As we walked towards the swings I spotted a family who had been sitting near us poolside, and I smiled at them. The mom had two kids with her and the girl was about my son’s age. They had been splashing around together. Hey we’re going to play too! I called out to the mom. I guess great minds think alike! I was shocked to a halt when I heard her hiss: Great. Freaking helicopter mom is at the playground too.
