To me and it gives me total faith in humanity's ability to take the next step in urban renewal - Ride ON! Imagine if we could unearth the Zanja, run a bit of it down State Street as a water feature and have a bike and family and pedestrian friendly historic downtown with a renewed water feature created long before California was even a state in the Union!

Intelli Silver Lake is kicking some serious booty (we’re not bothering with names). At the beginning of the year I moved into west coast sales. I cover LA with two other sales reps, James and Marco, and I have the O.C., Riverside County, San Bernardino County and New Mexico all to myself. I took a trip to Chicago AT THE END OF JANUARY.

I wish I could say it was a good parting of ways and that we’ll all remain friends and there are no hard feelings. At least, that’s my hope. All I can say is that I was offered a position at Intelligentsia LA that was better for me and my family(i.e. more money, less hours, benefits, better work environment). My motives in a nutshell: Take care of my family to the best of my abilities.

The USA was well represented by non other then Intelligentsia’s own Kyle Glanville. He was accompanied by coach, roaster and freind Deaton Pigot. Another one of my “best mates” is Steven Morrissey. Irish Cupping Champion, Latte Art Champion and now World Barista Champion. I always knew Steven was one of the best baristas in the world, but now he’s got the title to prove it!

I was able to get a few amazing people to volunteer their time and help work our booth. Julia, Shar, Ryan and Devin all did an amazing job on such short notice. Thank you. Bought a new warehouse. Moved our roaster from the San Dimas store into our new warehouse. Heather and I were in the Western Regional Barista Competition. She won… again. Anyone who’s read my blog knows, writing is not my calling. However, I’ll do my best to cover and explore some of the problems I listed above: Perspective, Distrust, Bad Habits and Lack of Passion. BTW – Congratulations to Gwilym Davies. Our new world barista champ. And a huge congratulations to Mike Philips, who came in 3rd in the world.
