Thrift Store: the Past and Future Secret Lives of Things. A year or 2 after it was made this book was scooped up for republication by a small Brooklyn publisher. The trade edition (still available) is expanded with more photos. I didn't design it though as I had no knowledge of digital print production. This, in part, is what motivated me to go to graduate school for graphic design in 2005. 2003 5.5 x 3.5 inches 40 pages edition 50 out of print.

An ongoing investigation in economy. How can type and image be built from the repetition of a single mark, in this case, an x? Later came the idea: since this is a simple, gridded, system, couldn't it translate to a reusable handset font for letterpress, simply by cutting wood into type-high and furniture-high modular units? 2008 22 x 30 inches inkjet printed. And: how can your completed project be an invitation for others to work? Made while a visiting artist at Small Craft Advisory Press.
