carol~connor~art: Transformational Art
http://www.redmountainbluedoorstudio.blogspot.com/2013/04/about-transformational-art.html
Friday, April 12, 2013. Transformational art is any form of art that moves viewers into deeper states of consciousness, to receive insights and to know themselves more fully. Rt that is transformational has staying power, enticing the viewer to come back and look, over and over again. Ivy Walker's work is a perfect. Example. Here are some of her 6" mixed media pieces. Friday, June 28, 2013. Are You Still Painting? Yep And making assemblages, drawing, etc.]. My first response is to answer, "As long as I'm still breathing". But, looking deeper, where does the question come from? What causes people to stop making art? What gives the rest of us the determination, tenacity and ability to follow our passions, whether it is for making art or anything else? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
carol~connor~art: A Fairy Find [Assemblage]
http://www.redmountainbluedoorstudio.blogspot.com/2013/03/a-fairy-find-assemblage.html
Sunday, March 31, 2013. A Fairy Find [Assemblage]. This is a piece influenced by the fae, the fairy beings that are present in my garden, in the woods and in other wild, unmanicured places. I thought about what an assemblage would look like if they created one, out of these materials. And, so it is. A tiny assemblage, life-sized. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mandalas for envisioning, intending, actualizing and more. Snow Showers Bring May Flowers. High altitude gardening is wild and unpredictable. The growing season here is short, with maybe sixty or so frost free nights. But, despite the climate and weather, the early risers emerge, including garlic. Perennials are showing up daily i n my garden. Thrilling to see emerge! So far there are bunching onions, chives, oregano and columbine. Strawberries, thyme and dianthus. Iris, salvia and parsley. We may be ove...

The Red Mountain Blogger
Observations from northeast Alabama on the natural world and the wide world. ©. Sunday, June 26, 2016. Ordinarily On The Media is one of my favorite shows, today I cannot listen. It’s about guns and the communication gap between the haves and have-nots. I found the premise ridiculous and offensive - - gun lovers berating the media because they say, they don’t really know enough about guns to talk about it. It ain’t rocket science! And we all knew guns! But the gun guys are trying to make a really big dea...

Sanity Rally
What a road weary rally bus rider saw. ©. Wednesday, August 17, 2011. John Stewart's Rally To Restore Sanity and Keep Fear Alive has now come and gone. Anticipating the rally for weeks, I wondered what to expect. Dawn found us passing through the Civil War towns of the Shenandoah Valley and closing on our nations capitol in increasingly heavy traffic. Well, so much for sanity and / or civility so far! We finally got the correct word and disembarked on foot a few blocks from the Mall. When I arrived a...

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Very Small Wall Pieces. I'm obsessed with Altoid tins. This piece includes rusted washers, sanded & painted, a tiny bird bead, my paint brush handle that became a stir stick and a piece of walnut that I carved and drew on. I've been playing with the idea of making pieces that resemble artifacts, things that contain symbols and codes from other places and times, that are somehow simultaneously mysterious and familiar, like parts of remembered dreams. Friday, June 28, 2013. Transform...
