Gesture drawings are like push-ups. I hate to do them, but I know they are good for me. First life drawing class today, it’s been a long time since I’ve done this. Media for today was sumi ink, a large brush and a stick. (and water). I am rusty, I had trouble with the fat brush, and I was not set up to paint like I normally do (no easy way to get to my water, which was on the floor), but I kept at it. Gesturing With House Paint and other things. Last figure drawing class was this past Sunday. Butcher paper, charcoal, and Benjamin Moore white. I did not have a brush, so I put on a latex glove and painted with my fingers. It was like being in kindergarten all over! The poses were relatively long for this class – 10 minutes.
